Job DescriptionJob Title: General Assembler Job Description The General Assembler supports the production of larger units by assembling a wide range of components and operating various fabrication and cutting machines. This role suits someone who is mechanically inclined, comfortable with hand and power tools, and able to read and work from measurements and blueprints in a busy manufacturing environment. The position may also involve operating equipment such as band saws, press brakes, plate rollers, and other basic CNC-related machinery, with regular opportunities for overtime. Responsibilities • Assemble a wide range of parts and subcomponents used in the construction of larger units according to specifications and instructions., • Use hand tools and air-powered tools safely and efficiently for mechanical assembly tasks., • Read and interpret tape measurements accurately to ensure correct dimensions and fit of parts., • Read and understand engineering blueprints to guide assembly and fabrication work where required., • Operate fabrication and cutting equipment such as band saws, press brakes, plate rollers, and other basic CNC-related machinery as needed., • Support general fabrication activities, including basic cutting, forming, and preparation of metal components., • Apply knowledge of angles, tooling, and cutting methods commonly used in construction and fabrication trades., • Assist with or perform mechanical assembly tasks that may include fitting, fastening, and aligning mechanical components., • Collaborate with team members and follow production priorities to meet quality, safety, and schedule requirements., • Work overtime when needed to support production demands and meet customer deadlines., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment.Essential Skills, • At least 6 months of assembly experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, or similar environment., • Ability to read a tape measure accurately and consistently., • Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly., • At least 2 years of construction experience or closely related hands-on trade experience., • Mechanical assembly or mechanic experience, with the ability to work with mechanical components and fasteners., • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn new equipment and processes., • Ability to read and follow basic engineering blueprints or technical drawings., • Understanding of angles, tooling, and cutting methods relevant to construction and fabrication work., • Willingness and ability to work overtime when required., • Ability to work safely in a large manufacturing environment, including adherence to all safety rules and use of required protective gear.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Electrical assembly experience is highly preferred, including basic wiring or working with electrical components., • Experience with press brakes, shears, and basic CNC equipment is a strong plus., • Experience with fabrication processes such as MIG welding, plasma cutting, and metal fabrication is beneficial., • Ability to read engineering blueprints with greater detail is a significant plus., • Familiarity with operating band saws, plate rollers, and similar fabrication machinery is advantageous., • Exposure to construction trades or fabrication environments, with an understanding of tooling and materials handling., • Comfort working with both mechanical and basic electrical or electronic components., • Strong attention to detail, quality, and accuracy in measurements and assembly work.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large manufacturing environment that includes both indoor and outdoor work areas. Some parts of the facility are air-conditioned, while most areas are not, so employees should be comfortable working in varying temperatures. The position typically follows a weekday schedule with a core shift of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the potential to work extended hours such as 5:00 a.m. to 4:00–5:00 p.m. as production needs require. There is also potential to work up to approximately 10 hours of overtime per week, often in the form of 10-hour days from Monday through Friday. Work involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment such as band saws, press brakes, plate rollers, and other machinery common in metal fabrication and assembly. The environment emphasizes safety, and the dress code requires steel-toe footwear, work pants or jeans, and a T-shirt suitable for hands-on industrial work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mesa, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
