Job DescriptionSalary: DOE Chief Operating Officer (COO) We are seeking a visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our leadership team and drive the continued growth of our high-performing law firm. Candidates with the mindset or designation of a Professional Legal Administrator (PLA) are especially well-suited to lead in this operationally critical and innovation-driven position. About the Role As our COO, youll work closely with the CEO to drive operational excellence across all departments: Operations, Sales, Billing, Marketing, Human Resources, Compliance, and more. Your leadership will be key in aligning business strategy with execution, sustaining profitability, and maintaining exceptional client service. In this role, you'll have a chance to become a strategic architect for growth and innovation, especially as we explore AI-driven tools and legal tech to strengthen our competitive edge. What You'll Do Operations & Legal Administration • Manage daily business operations with a focus on efficiency, quality, and compliance., • Supervise the Operations Manager and ensure the firms technology infrastructure, case management systems, and data security are optimized., • Lead firm-wide compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards., • Develop and maintain risk management strategies that protect the firm and its clients., • Oversee HR operations: recruiting, onboarding, training, performance reviews, and retention., • Support career development for attorneys and staff., • Partner with the CEO and Director of Finance on firm-wide budgeting, forecasting, and reporting., • Oversee billing, collections, profitability analysis, and trust account compliance., • Lead the Sales and Intake Managers to ensure strong client acquisition and onboarding performance., • Ensure that potential leads are efficiently converted into clients through a streamlined intake process., • Translate the firm's vision into operational goals and growth initiatives., • Identify opportunities for expansion, process improvement, and technology integration., • Drive innovation through legal tech tools, AI adoption, and digital transformation. What You Bring • Bachelors degree in Business, Law, Finance, or related field. (J.D. or legal industry experience is preferred; PLA designation or equivalent is highly valued.), • 5+ years in senior operations or executive leadership, ideally in a law firm or professional services environment., • Expertise in financial oversight, HR, risk management, and compliance within legal services., • Familiarity with legal practice management software and modern business tools., • Experience with AI tools, automation platforms, or tech-forward law firm systems., • A growth mindset with a passion for leadership, collaboration, and innovation.
