Position Summary This position is responsible for performing various welding functions required by both the Compressor Assembly department and the Machine Shop. This position is responsible for TIG and MIG welding, with emphasis on TIG welding (95%). Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Performs helium tight welds as necessary on all pressure vessels, sub-assemblies, final assemblies and other fixtures or vessels * Welds using various techniques unique to Bluefors training * Assists with preparation and inventory of tubes, caps, and work in process including various sub-assemblies * Performs maintenance including cleaning work areas, tools, and parts * Adheres to quality and safety standards as required by Bluefors in regards to self, all equipment, supplies and products * Maintains appropriate records * Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Education Requirements Job Competencies: * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and training documents. * Basic knowledge of welding procedures, practices, and techniques required to TIG weld. * Knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools associated with welding, such as angle grinder, bench grinder, and weld positioners, including setup or connection of hoses, cords, regulators, etc. * Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and blueprints. * Knowledge and ability to use common measuring instruments such as tape measure, level, square, etc. * Knowledge of basic welding supplies such as welding rods and types of tungstens. * Basic knowledge of inventory management procedures and practices. * Ability to complete CE Certification Education and/or Experience High school diploma/GED with one year TIG weld experience; or one year certificate from college or technical School and/or six months experience in the field of TIG Welding; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, reach with arms and hands, and have hand and finger dexterity. The employee is occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment This position operates in a manufacturing environment. This position interacts mostly with internal customers in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner. Mandatory PPE must be worn as required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; heat; cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
