Job Description Job Title: LGBTQ+ Health Equity & Community Programs Specialist Organization: In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) Location: Albany, NY Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site Reports To: Director of LGBT HHS Organizational Overview In Our Own Voices, Inc. (IOOV) is a nonprofit organization committed to the health and empowerment of LGBTQ+ people of color. Our mission is to foster the physical, mental, spiritual, political, cultural, and economic well-being of our communities through advocacy, direct services, and community engagement. We are one of the few LGBTQ+ organizations in the U.S. led by and for LGBTQ+ people of color. Position Summary The LGBTQ+ Health Equity & Community Programs Specialist plays a critical role in coordinating, delivering, and evaluating IOOV’s health and wellness programs. This position blends direct client services, youth development, event planning, community outreach, and program evaluation to address health disparities and improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly people of color. The Specialist will also lead key initiatives such as BIPOC, the LGBTQ+ Student Roundtable, and the biennial Unity Through Diversity (UTD) National LGBTQ+ POC Health Conference. Key Responsibilities Program Coordination & Direct Services • Provide brief counseling, peer support, and advocacy to LGBTQ+ individuals seeking health and wellness services., • Serve as lead staff for LGBTQ+ youth programs and drop-in center activities., • Organize and support large-scale community events including BIPOC Pride, the LGBT Student Roundtable, and the Unity Through Diversity Conference., • Coordinate planning committee meetings, recruit speakers, performers, and volunteers., • Assist in developing surveys, needs assessments, and evaluation tools., • Collect and input accurate data into internal and funder databases (e.g., AIRS), ensuring timely monthly reporting., • Submit complete and accurate reports in accordance with funder requirements and IOOV’s internal policies. Required • Minimum of two years of experience in human services, health education, or community outreach., • Demonstrated experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly BIPOC and youth communities., • Proven ability to coordinate events, facilitate group activities, and engage diverse audiences., • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills., • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends., • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (or equivalent lived/professional experience)., • Experience with data entry systems, program evaluation, or survey design., • Strong commitment to racial, gender, and health equity., • Culturally responsive approach to programming and communication., • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment., • Adaptability, creativity, and initiative in program development.Company DescriptionIn Our Own Voices, Inc.
