Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is seeking a motivated and dynamic Pediatric Psychologist to join its growing Psychology Department in a per diem (staff relief) capacity. Opportunities are available for candidates with experience in inpatient consultation-liaison work with pediatric patients and their families in an acute pediatric medical environment. Typical inpatient consult referrals include acute and chronic pain, conversion symptoms, GI complaints, psychogenic events, feeding/eating issues, trauma, adjustment to new medical diagnoses, depression, anxiety, behavioral challenges, ingestion/suicide attempts, and end of life issues. Responsibilities include: • Assessment and ongoing treatment of patients throughout their inpatient hospital stay., • Collaborating with treatment team members to formulate clinical intervention and referring patients to other disciplines for consult and evaluation as indicated., • Providing support and education to the patient’s family., • Providing psychological expertise and education to a multidisciplinary team of professionals., • Acting as a resource to other disciplines on patient and behavioral problems related to various psychological disorders., • Developing and providing education to both hospital staff and to the community when available. The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) from an APA-accredited program and be licensed (or license eligible) in the state of Florida. Completion of an APA-accredited internship and fellowship in pediatric psychology is desired. Work schedule is variable to meet the staff relief needs of the department with a desire for coverage at minimum on Mondays. This is an employed position that offers professional malpractice and medical liability covered under sovereign immunity. About Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is a 216 bed free-standing children’s hospital in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida located near Fort Lauderdale. The hospital recently underwent a 4-story vertical expansion to double the number of floors and continue to meet its commitment to providing the highest quality and safest care for children in the region.
