Job Description Duration: 06 Months Working hours: Mon-Thurs. - 7 am-5 pm Position Overview We are seeking an Electronics Technician Maintenance II to support Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) projects throughout the Central Service Area. This is a 100% field-based, travel-intensive position focused on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of complex electronic, electrical, communications, and related systems. The initial assignment is expected to last 6 months, with a strong possibility of transitioning to a permanent temp-to-hire position based on performance and workload. Compensation & Benefits • H&W Rate: $5.09/hour, paid in addition to the hourly pay rate for the first 40 hours worked each week, • Per Diem: Offered for all qualifying travel, • Travel Expenses: All travel expenses are reimbursed weekly, • Duration: 6 months to start; likely temp-to-hire based on performance and workload, • Work Location: 100% field work throughout the FAA Central Service Area Schedule • Monday–Thursday, • Approximately 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, • 4 x 10-hour shifts, • Overtime as required Important Requirements • Applicants must have a current and valid driver's license., • Employees must use their personally owned vehicles for travel., • Employees are responsible for covering travel expenses initially and will be reimbursed weekly., • Must be willing and able to travel up to 100% throughout the FAA Central Service Area. Job Responsibilities • Support site preparation for contractor installation of FENS racks, including wall-mounted racks and multiple-rack installations., • Provide critical power circuits and grounding for contractor-furnished racks., • Provide essential power convenience outlet circuits for alternating FENS racks., • Support installation of new cable trays and conduits for FENS racks and associated cabling., • Install separate fiber pathways at each site according to requirements provided by the local FAA Point of Contact (POC)., • Support site preparation for LTE antenna installations, including establishing cable pathways., • Provide a CCSI to report to the FAA Technical Officer Representative (TOR)., • Support general installation and construction activities, including preparing redlines for as-built documentation., • Remove, repair, or replace components, wires, wire bundles, terminal blocks, and connectors., • Solder, splice, install, and repair various wire types, including:, • Coaxial, • Shielded, • Solid, • Stranded, • Test and troubleshoot electrical components using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, color codes, publications, and other technical documentation., • Apply knowledge of transistors, solid-state components, integrated circuits, motors, servos, power transmission systems, and other electrical devices., • Troubleshoot, repair, align, and calibrate audio equipment and voice communication systems to the component level., • Utilize system-specific test equipment, schematics, and theory of operation to diagnose and repair electronic systems., • Install sensors, wiring, cabling, computers, radios, satellite equipment, and related systems., • Work effectively in a fast-paced and unpredictable field environment and under varying weather conditions., • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Current and valid driver's license., • Ability to travel up to 100% throughout the FAA Central Service Area., • Ability to work outdoors and in extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold., • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds., • Basic proficiency with:, • Microsoft Office/Microsoft Suite, • Internet applications, • Email, • Ability to meet customer security requirements, including moderate- to high-risk screening., • Strong troubleshooting, technical, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to work independently in field environments while following technical procedures and safety requirements. Desired Qualifications • Advanced electronics training from a junior college, military service, technical school, or trade school., • 3+ years of experience testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and installing:, • Fiber optic systems, • Radio Control Equipment (RCE), • Complex electronic equipment, • Telecommunications equipment, • Communication systems, • Experience maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, modifying, and installing electronic equipment such as:, • Radar, • Radio systems, • Telecommunications equipment, • Sonar, • Navigational aids, • Computers and terminals, • Industrial, medical, measuring, and control equipment, • Industrial robotic systems, • Strong understanding of electronics principles and the ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions., • Experience restoring equipment to operational condition and evaluating equipment performance and reliability., • Ability to interpret manufacturers' manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and other technical documentation., • Familiarity with the interrelationships of electronic circuits., • Ability to select appropriate tools, testing instruments, and work sequences to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Work Environment • This is a 100% field-based position requiring extensive travel throughout the FAA Central Service Area. The technician may work in a variety of locations and environments, including outdoor sites and facilities exposed to extreme weather conditions., • The position requires frequent travel, use of a personally owned vehicle, and the ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Position Summary • The Electronics Technician Maintenance II will apply technical knowledge and hands-on skills to install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify, align, and calibrate electronic and electrical systems supporting FAA infrastructure.
