Summary/objective: In Home Respite Direct Support Professional The Respite Support Worker works in the home to support people with moderate to very high support needs. The Support Worker provides direct care and support to people with disabilities in a variety of areas (ADL, meal preparation, light household cleaning, community inclusion, etc.). This may include persons of all ages with developmental disabilities who qualify for Services. Care taking may include providing meaningful interaction and activity for the client and providing protective supervision and/or respite for the family. Job duties/functions: 1. Undertaking health care procedures relating to the person’s personal hygiene, and wellbeing, such as toileting, showering and bathing, helping with dressing and grooming, manual handling, eating, nutrition and health. 2. Provide companionship and support during daily activities. 3. Perform various household tasks including cooking, cleaning, shopping and general services. 4. Encouraging and supporting consumer participation in social and community activities. 5. Maintaining consumer privacy and confidentiality at all times. 6. Maintaining a respectful and supportive working relationship with the client and family members. 7. Ensure the safety and rights of consumers is considered and maintained at all times 8.
