Job Description Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Lead Job Description The Electrical Maintenance Lead oversees the commissioning, startup, and ongoing reliability of high-voltage and industrial electrical systems in a heavy industrial port environment. This role leads electrical commissioning activities, develops and manages preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and builds a high-performing maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical assets. Responsibilities • Lead electrical commissioning activities during the startup phase for large motors and high-voltage equipment., • Execute I/O verification, loop checks, and controls testing to ensure proper system functionality., • Support PLC and DCS commissioning and collaborate closely with controls teams to integrate systems effectively., • Energize motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, and electrical distribution systems in a safe and controlled manner., • Troubleshoot wiring, equipment, and system issues to quickly identify and resolve electrical problems., • Coordinate with vendors and OEM representatives during commissioning and troubleshooting activities., • Build and lead the electrical maintenance team during the operations phase, including hiring and team development., • Develop, implement, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all electrical systems., • Own the reliability, uptime, and performance of electrical infrastructure, including medium-voltage systems and motor controls., • Manage work orders, maintenance scheduling, and long-term maintenance planning to support operational needs., • Partner with operations teams to align equipment availability and performance with production requirements., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on system reliability, safety, and maintainability., • Support future capital projects by providing electrical expertise and maintenance input., • Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and other applicable electrical and safety standards., • Interpret and use electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and P&IDs to guide installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance work. Essential Skills • Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or equivalent credential., • At least 7 years of industrial electrical experience in a heavy industrial or similar environment., • Hands-on experience with PLC systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or comparable platforms., • Experience in motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and MCC equipment., • Experience working with medium and high-voltage systems, including 4160V equipment., • Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting., • Experience with SCADA or HMI systems for monitoring and control., • Ability to perform testing and verification on medium and high-voltage systems., • Strong troubleshooting skills for wiring, electrical equipment, and control systems., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and P&IDs., • Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and OSHA standards related to electrical safety and compliance., • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience running a team, scaling operations, and participating in hiring. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Prior experience leading electrical commissioning activities for industrial facilities., • Experience building or managing maintenance teams in an industrial environment., • Experience in a heavy industrial, port, or bulk material handling facility., • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members., • Experience collaborating with vendors and OEMs for equipment commissioning and support., • Familiarity with continuous improvement practices in maintenance and reliability., • Comfort working with state-of-the-art electrical and control systems. Work Environment The role is based in a heavy industrial port environment that includes equipment such as ships, silos, conveyors, and large material-handling systems. Work takes place in and around outdoor conditions tied to port operations, with exposure to dust, varying weather, and a fast-paced, production-driven setting. Operations run around vessel schedules, creating an environment where urgency and efficiency in unloading and moving material are critical. You will regularly work around medium and high-voltage electrical equipment, MCCs, and advanced control systems, requiring consistent adherence to safety standards and procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gibsonton, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $42.00/hr.
