S&ME is seeking an Entry‑Level Geologist to join our Environmental team out of Knoxville, Tennessee. What You Will Do: As an entry‑level Geologist, you'll gain hands‑on experience across civil, geotechnical, and environmental projects supporting Energy, Industrial, and Government clients, everything from power plants and pipelines to landfills, mining sites, dams, and stream restoration projects. Your work may span multiple service areas, giving you exposure to S&ME's diverse capabilities and helping you discover where you want to grow. You'll gain hands‑on experience both in the field and the office, including: • Field Investigations & Sampling: Assist with hydrogeological investigations and environmental field work such as soil borings, monitoring well installation, soil and rock classification, in‑situ permeability testing, and collection of soil, groundwater, and gas samples for laboratory analysis., • Data Analysis & Reporting: Learn how field data turns into decisions by preparing data tables and graphics, comparing results to state and federal regulatory standards, and contributing to technical reports. Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor's degree in Geology or a closely related field, • Certification/Licensure:, • Geologist in Training (GIT) certification, a plus, • Eligible to obtain a Professional Geologist (PG) license within 4-5 years, • Key Competencies:, • Well-organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize work, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Working Conditions and Physical Demands: This role involves hands-on work in outdoor environments, and with Company-provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), you'll need to be comfortable with: • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing (potentially up to 12 hours a day), • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment), • Working outside of normal business hours and traveling (typically out-of-town and/or overnight) as project needs arise We Are S&ME: At S&ME, we're committed to your growth, professionally and personally.
