Job Summary and Qualifications Responsible for the overall operation of the department. Responsible for orientating, evaluating, and documenting competency of personnel. Establishes, maintains, and revises departmental policies and procedure to include departmental programs, quality control, performance improvement, and safety. Maintains departmental expenses and productivity as budgeted. Oversees respiratory care as delivered by the Respiratory Therapy department. • You will hire and direct departmental staff in the performance of their duties, • You will interview all prospective applicants You will oversee departmental and general orientation and training of employees, • You will conduct performance appraisals for employees, • You will counsel employees when indicated in accordance with hospital and departmental policies, • You will utilize staff effectively through scheduling and work assignments, • You will institute and revise departmental policies and procedures as needed, • You will develop and maintain in conjunction with Medical Director a respiratory care protocol program, • You will follow and enforce all safety policies, • You will assist with continuing education programs within the department, • You will oversee the clinical quality improvement measures as coordinated through Quality Department, • You will maintain expenses within a budgeted variance, • You will obtain equipment and supplies as needed to meet patient care demands, • You will assure that equipment will function according to standards, having repairs or replacements made as necessary, • You will identify and recommend items for capital purchase, • You will evaluate data to determine the most cost-effective methods and supplies, • You will resolve problems when systems deviate from the established performance specification, • You will address employee concerns and conflicts according to hospital policy, • You will address customer-related issues according to hospital policy, • You will participate and utilize available tools to address inter and intra-departmental issues, • You will create a supportive climate by serving as a role model of guest relations behavior, • You will communicate via written, verbal, face-to-face, telephone and computer with staff and other to resolve conflicts What qualifications you will need: • Required: Graduate of an American Medical Association approved Respiratory therapy program., • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Management, Business or Respiratory Three years, • Previous RRT experience in an acute care setting and three-five years previous supervisory experience in respiratory therapy, • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NRBC) Required Upon Hire (for certifications only: upon hire is defined as within 2 business days of start date) Required within 90 days, • Respiratory Care Practitioner license by the State of Texas Required Upon Hire (for certifications only: upon hire is defined as within 2 business days of start date) Required within 90 days ___, part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a comprehensive medical facility with three locations: St. David’s Medical Center, ___, and ___.
