We are seeking an experienced full-time, non-exempt Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) for assisting the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services. The Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) will function as a circulating assistant in chairside dental procedures, under the direction of the Healthcare Interim Co-CEO. The RDA will perform all dentistry procedures, clinic infection control procedures, cleaning and sterilization of instruments, tray setup and materials. The dental assistant is also responsible for preparing the operatory and patients for treatment, chairside assisting, sterilization, inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. Job Duties & Responsibilities · Ability to perform all phases of four (4) handed Dental Assisting duties for endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, prosthodontics, and restorative procedures. · Ability to perform standard and radiographic methods. · Familiarity with dental terminology, materials, medications and instruments used during dental procedures. · Perform the following supportive tasks to ensure efficiency of patient flow: clean, sterilize, instruments, and set up trays. · Maintain and test equipment (sterilizer, x-ray dosimetry, x-ray processor, etc.) including daily lubrication of equipment. · Effectively pour models and conduct other lab procedures. · Ability to instruct patients in oral hygiene and preventive dental education under the supervision of the dentist. · Review and document inventory and reorder supplies as necessary to maintain par levels. · Perform charting activities and document exam findings in patient record. · Maintain clean, orderly and well stocked operatory and laboratory. · Ability to plan work duties to ensure dental clinic efficiency. · Knowledge of patient scheduling procedures. · Work in conjunction with Staff Dentists and healthcare team to develop and implement preventive dental activities for the community · Employee Safety: Safely performs all duties; follows required protective protocols to ensure personal safety as well the safety of others. · Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches. · Safety: Responsible for ensuring that all duties, responsibilities and operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved, including themselves. · Safety: Take appropriate corrective actions to address matters pertaining to employee health and safety hat have been brought to their attention. · Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities · Function chairside dental procedures as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA). · Perform mouth-mirror inspections of the oral cavity, to include charting of obvious lesions, existing restorations, and missing teeth. · Apply and activate bleaching agents using a non-laser light-curing device. · Use automated caries detection devices and materials to gather information for diagnosis by the dentist. · Pulp vitality testing and recording of findings. · Place bases, liners, and bonding agents. · Chemically prepare teeth for bonding. · Place, adjust, and finish direct provisional restorations. · Fabricate, adjust, cement, and remove indirect provisional restorations, including stainless steel crowns when used as a provisional restoration. · Place post-extraction dressings after inspection of the surgical site by the supervising licensed dentist · Place periodontal dressings. · Dry endodontically treated canals using absorbent paper points. · Remove excess cement from surfaces of teeth with a hand instrument. · Polish coronal surfaces of the teeth. · Collects patient information and health/medication data and documenting in patient record. · Educates patients on good oral hygiene habits. · Updates patient records and treatment plans as directed by dentist. · Performs procedures as delegated and directed by the dentist in accordance with state regulation and law and department directive and protocol. · Monitors patient schedule daily to ensure adequate and efficient patient flow. · Follows California State Board of Dentistry, ADA and CDC Infection Control Guidelines and department procedures and protocols. · Ensures proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated material in accordance with department directives, center policy and state and federal regulations. · Uses time wisely and maintains a courteous and professional demeanor at all times. · Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants. · Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software (Microsoft Office, Adobe, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, etc). · Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information while complying with all applicable federal and state privacy laws, as well as UAII policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.). Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities · Knowledge of Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (PL93-638) or willingness to become knowledgeable. · Knowledge of Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (PL 94-437) or willingness to become knowledgeable. · Knowledge of the Affordable Care Act (PL 111-148) or willingness to become knowledgeable. · Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) cultures and lifestyles and work effectively with AI/AN population. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience) · High School Diploma or equivalent. · Must be a licensed Registered Dental Assistant in the State of California. · One year of experience as a Registered Dental Assistant. · Must have a current BLS CPR Certification. · Must have a Radiation Safety Certification or completion of an approved radiation safety course. · Must have a coronal polishing license and be Sealant Certified. · Must possess the skills necessary to perform duties as per State of California licensing guidelines. · Must be familiar with dental terminology, materials, medications, and instruments used during dental procedures.
