Job Description WEST SIDE FEDERATION FOR SENIOR AND SUPPORTIVE HOUSING Social Worker I - Bilingual Spanish Only The Social Worker I works as part of the social service team. They report to the Clinical Coordinator, or Director of Clinical and Social Services, while working closely with their Building Manager. Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Social Worker will complete contractually required enrollment steps, a comprehensive assessment and corresponding service planning for potential participants in our Bushwick Youth Employment program, which affords young people 18-24 access credential training in the health care sector. The Felony ATI Court, which is led by Administrative Judge Ellen Biben, seeks to forge a new response to individuals charged with felonies by linking them to community-based social services. The Court is the first of its kind, providing an innovative model for other jurisdictions seeking to develop and implement meaningful post-conviction sentencing options for individuals facing felony charges. Reporting to the Clinical Director of Felony ATI, the Social Worker will be part of a team that provides neutral, third-party assessments and case management services to the Felony Alternative to Incarceration (ATI) Court. The Social Worker will be responsible for conducting independent clinical assessments, providing referrals to community-based services, offering comprehensive clinical case management, and monitoring participant compliance. An essential and dynamic feature of the Social Worker’s role will be close collaboration with key stakeholders. The Social Worker will work regularly with the judge and court staff from New York Country Supreme Court who oversee the Felony ATI Court, as well as with other stakeholders, including the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and New York City defense organizations. Court-based social work is an exciting, unique and demanding area of practice, and the Social Worker role involves navigating and constructively engaging with differing and, at times, competing stakeholder perspectives. Education: Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with current, valid NYS registration Preferred, LMSW, LMHC required Continued employment is conditioned on the ability to maintain professional licensure, current registration and unrestricted participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs Experience: Four years minimum postmaster’s clinical experience providing services to adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorder. At least 2 years minimum progressive administrative and/or supervisory experience. Position Summary: The Director of Mental Health will serve as the primary liaison between the agency and other agencies in the mental health continuum (e.g., state hospital, community case management, adult foster care homes, etc.). Supervisory Responsibilities: • Directs the day-to-day operations of the program and implements programmatic and administrative policies and procedures to attain program goals and objectives., • Supervises the service staff, evaluates employee performance, and makes recommendations for human resources actions to the mental health vice president., • Develops and implements programmatic and administrative policies and procedures to attain program goals and objectives., • Oversees quality assurance in the program's service delivery including clinical care and documentation., • Supervises a clinical care manager, social workers, and MSW interns., • Oversees the program's productivity to meet established standards and to ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services., • Coordinates communication with other service components of the agency and outside agencies involved with agency clients., • Adheres to the agency's policies and procedures., • Serves on agency committees, working groups, and other bodies as assigned., • Clinical expertise in crisis intervention, skill in working with the mentally ill population, and with individuals undergoing acute episodes of psychiatric distress; skill in diagnosis and assessment., • Ability to work as part of a comprehensive community mental health team and to represent the agency in the community., • Skills in supervising, evaluating, and disciplining staff of professionals and paraprofessionals., • Familiarity with community support systems, health care and human service resources, court and police activities, etc., • Good organizational skills and administrative abilities., • Flexibility in days and hours available for scheduled work including weekends., • Knowledge of and the ability to adhere to a professional code of ethics., • Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) required., • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), preferred., • Appropriate professional registration/certification by state/national authority required., • At least five years of professional experience in the mental health or human services fields required with at least three years at the supervisory level preferred., • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer., • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
