Job Description Description The Metals Fabrication and Welding Instructor is responsible for classroom and lab instruction for the Workforce and Economic Development Center (WEDC) short-term Metals Fabrication and Welding (MFW) program and assists in updating current curriculum; providing quality instruction for a diverse student population; performing instructional duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, core values, policies and procedures of the College. Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Teach assigned MFW program competencies and associated labs in accordance with the WEDC’s schedule; maintains written instructional standards; facilitates instruction using alternative delivery methods as needed; maintains inventory of consumable supplies and educational materials, establishes, maintains and submits accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner;, • Ability to teach all MFW competencies within the program, including but not limited to safety, workplace math, blueprint reading, sheet metal and welding techniques, and other related processes and skills as required by the curriculum;, • Assists in the preparation of course proposals, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools; reviews and updates course outlines, textbooks, and laboratories for the MFW program; assists with curriculum updates;, • Applies and maintains standards of quality operating methods, processes, systems, and procedures; implements changes as necessary to maintain a successful MFW program; reviews and updates course outlines, textbooks, and course procedure sheets for assigned courses; integrates knowledge of customers, competitors, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve program quality;, • Assists in the management of the MFW program; maintains equipment and supply inventory Other Duties and Responsibilities: • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor, • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures Typical Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: • Expected to accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner and to strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed;, • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment;, • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner;, • Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentially related to sensitive information;, • Ability to analyze problems, identifies solutions, and takes appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes;, • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public;, • Prior teaching/training experience in the related field;, • Skill in instructing students from diverse backgrounds;, • Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students’ needs and progress; and, • 3 years’ experience in Welding and Metals Fabrication or related field;, • A college degree is NOT required, • Current job specific credentials or certification preferred Supplemental Information Work Environment and/or Physical Demands: • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards., • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, • Conditions may require walking, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, heavy lifting (less than or equal to 50 pounds), high climbing, bending, working in awkward positions handling equipment and materials., • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone, • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.Company DescriptionThaddeus Stevens College of Technology is an acclaimed residential two-year college accepting students from throughout the state of Pennsylvania as well as veterans, members of the armed forces, and their families.
