Job Purpose The Vendor Relations Manager serves as a strategic partner to executive leadership with primary ownership over vendor management, vendor performance, and vendor strategy across the organization. This role is responsible for evaluating, selecting, negotiating with, and managing vendors and subcontractors to ensure optimal outcomes across cost, service quality, safety, timeliness, and capacity. The position requires executive-level judgment, advanced analytical capability, and the ability to independently define workflows, set priorities, and drive results in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.This is a self-directed role requiring strong business acumen, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities daily without the need for close supervision. Duties and Responsibilities Vendor Strategy & Relationship Management • Own and manage vendor and subcontractor relationships from initial evaluation through ongoing performance management., • Develop and maintain a formal vendor evaluation matrix balancing service quality, safety performance, responsiveness, timeliness, pricing, and capacity., • Lead vendor selection processes, including RFPs, evaluations, and strategic sourcing initiatives., • Conduct executive-level vendor negotiations related to pricing, scope, terms, service levels, and long-term agreements., • Establish performance metrics, monitor vendor compliance, and address underperformance through corrective action or replacement when necessary., • Serve as the primary point of accountability for vendor outcomes across departments. Analysis & Executive Reporting • Collect, analyze, and interpret cross-functional data to support vendor strategy, budgeting, vendor performance, and operational planning., • Build and maintain advanced analytical models and dashboards using Excel and related tools., • Prepare executive-ready reports, summaries, and recommendations that clearly communicate tradeoffs and business impact., • Proactively identify trends, risks, and opportunities related to vendors, costs, and capacity. Leadership, Workflow & Cross-Functional Coordination • Independently define, implement, and continuously improve workflows related to vendor management and analysis., • Coordinate with operations, finance, safety, and executive leadership to align priorities and execution., • Build trust-based relationships across teams while holding firm on standards, deadlines, and accountability., • Manage multiple high-priority requests simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Executive Support & Discretion • Participate in leadership meetings related to vendor strategy and operational planning., • Exercise exceptional discretion and judgment when handling confidential business information., • Take ownership of initiatives and follow through to completion without micromanagement. Required Skills & Competencies • Executive-level negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes while protecting company interests., • Strong vendor management and evaluation capability, including the ability to balance cost, service, safety, timeliness, and capacity., • Highly self-directed with the ability to define priorities, workflows, and solutions independently., • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills., • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities., • Strong team-building and cross-functional collaboration skills., • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills., • High level of accountability, ownership, and professional integrity. Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Construction Management, or a related field., • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Windows-based applications., • Demonstrated ability to manage complex vendor relationships., • Proven track record of managing multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in vendor management, procurement, operations, or business analysis., • Familiarity with Precoro, Netsuite, Quickbooks, vendor scorecards, evaluation frameworks, or performance dashboards.
