Job Description Data Center Technician 1 Job Description The Data Center Technician 1 builds, wires, tests, and troubleshoots complex electrical and electromechanical assemblies used in critical power, industrial equipment, energy, transportation, and other high‑reliability applications. This role focuses on assembling cables, harnesses, electrical panels, power distribution equipment, and other custom‑engineered products while strictly following quality, safety, and customer requirements. The technician works from engineering documentation, supports production schedules, and contributes to continuous improvement in a collaborative manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Follow written and verbal work instructions, engineering specifications, and assembly procedures to complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently., • Perform wiring, crimping, soldering, cable routing, and cable assembly to connect electrical and mechanical components in accordance with design requirements., • Build complex electromechanical assemblies, harnesses, control panels, cabinets, and related systems according to engineering drawings and customer specifications., • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, process sheets, and assembly documentation to ensure correct assembly and wiring., • Operate manufacturing equipment, hand tools, and specialized tools necessary to support electrical and mechanical assembly processes., • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve assembly, electrical, and mechanical defects in accordance with established quality and workmanship standards., • Perform inspections, continuity checks, and functional testing to verify that assemblies meet design, performance, and quality requirements., • Build custom assemblies to unique customer requirements and recommend improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and manufacturability., • Work collaboratively within a production environment to maintain workflow, support team members, and meet production schedules and deadlines., • Perform rework, repairs, and modifications on electrical and electromechanical assemblies as required by engineering changes or quality findings., • Maintain accurate documentation, including assembly records and test results, and follow established manufacturing processes and procedures., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and equipment is used safely., • Adhere to all company quality, safety, and operational procedures and support a culture of continuous improvement and reliability. Essential Skills • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, specifications, drawings, electrical schematics, process sheets, and wiring diagrams., • Ability to assemble and wire electrical or electromechanical products using assembly instructions, production drawings, schematics, and ladder diagrams., • Experience using hand tools, torque wrenches, measuring devices, testing equipment, and precision assembly tools in a production or assembly setting., • Ability to cut, strip, terminate, crimp, route, and secure wiring and cables to industry workmanship standards., • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work confidently with both electrical and mechanical components., • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of electrical and electromechanical assemblies to identify and correct defects or issues., • Comfort working from engineering documentation and following standardized manufacturing and quality procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Familiarity with cable and harness assembly practices and IPC‑620 workmanship standards is preferred., • Experience assembling, wiring, testing, or troubleshooting products such as transformers, switchgear, control panels, or industrial automation equipment., • Experience working with power distribution equipment, electrical cabinets, UPS systems, battery backup systems, or power generation equipment., • Exposure to HVAC controls, rail transportation systems, heavy industrial equipment, aerospace or defense electronics, or telecommunications equipment., • Experience with custom electromechanical assemblies or other high‑reliability electrical products., • Interest in applying skills from related electrical, power distribution, or electromechanical environments; data center experience is not required. Work Environment This position operates in a production and manufacturing environment focused on building high‑reliability electrical and electromechanical assemblies. Technicians work hands‑on with hand tools, torque wrenches, measuring devices, testing equipment, and precision assembly tools to support daily assembly and testing activities. The role emphasizes adherence to established quality, safety, and operational procedures, with an expectation to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times. Work is scheduled to support ongoing production needs and deadlines, and per diem is not provided for this level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
