Job Description The company is a respected commercial construction firm known for disciplined execution, quality craftsmanship, and strong client relationships across West Texas. As company continues to strengthen its market presence and pursue measured regional expansion, we are seeking an experienced Estimator to play a key role in cost estimating, bid preparation and proposal development. Position Overview The Estimator is responsible for forecasting the total cost, time, and labor needed for construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, 3D models and site conditions. They perform material takeoffs, solicit subcontractor bids, and calculate overhead/profit to create competitive proposals, ensuring project profitability. Key activities include reviewing drawings and 3D models, negotiating with vendors, and conducting risk assessments. This role is highly collaborative working closely with with companies leadership suppliers, owners, architects and engineers. It serves as a critical link between design, engineering and construction teams to support competitive bids, cost certainty and efficient project execution. Key Responsibilities Bid Preparation * Review, analyze and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications in order to understand project requirements. * Extract material quantities directly from 3D models for accurate, automated and granular takeoffs. * Develop, analyze and manage detailed cost estimates by linking model elements to cost databases. * Perform detailed, granular material takeoffs to accurately quantify material requirements. * Identify potential design conflicts or construction issues thereby reducing risk and costly on-site changes. * Identify alternative materials or construction methods using the model to reduce costs without compromising quality * Communicate with architects and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials and schedule requirements. * Solicit, evaluate and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers in order to find the most cost-effective and suitable options. * Calculate total project cost to include materials, labor, equipment, insurance, permits and subcontractor bids. * Establish time and material budgets for construction projects. * Update and maintain 3D models during the bidding phase to reflect changes in order to ensure consistency between design, quantity and price * Perform model audits and review drawings/specs in order to ensure data integrity, constructability and accuracy before bidding. Proposal Development * Prepare final, detailed proposals for clients. * Identify potential risks, project delays or cost deviations that could impact the budget. * Assist with final assembly of proposals for presentation to the client. * After the bid, collect and organize all bid information for future reference. * Aid field operations with change order pricing as needed. Internal Coordination * Build relationships with subcontractors in order to obtain a competitive advantage for the company * Build and maintain relationships with internal clients. * Maintain currency in estimating technology and techniques. * Attend industry events and represent the company to the industry in a professional and ethical capacity. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in construction management, Architecture, Engineering or related major. * 3 years of experience in construction estimating or BIM-based takeoffs. * Proficiency with On-Screen Takoff (OST), Building Information Modeling estimating software (Assemble, Revit,, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Bluebeam) or related software. * General knowledge of construction principles and processes. * Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. * Strong math and analytical skills with attention to detail. * Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal). * Must demonstrate consistency with the company's core values and maintain a "value added" approach to estimating.
