Editorial, Brand, and Institutional Messaging • Own and steward the Orchestra’s messaging architecture and editorial voice, ensuring clarity, consistency, and resonance across Orchestra-focused channels and campaigns., • Oversee Orchestra-related editorial content for digital and print platforms, including advertorial strategy, feature stories, blog posts, e-mails, institutional announcements, and select publications., • Partner with communications colleagues to align Orchestra messaging with broader institutional narratives while preserving the specificity and distinctiveness of the Orchestra brand., • Ensure all visual and narrative content related to the Orchestra, including photography and video, reflects the organization’s values, artistic excellence, and community commitments. Partnerships, Community, and Representation • Act as a key liaison with venue partners and collaborators such as the Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts, Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Bravo! Vail Music Festival, Carnegie Hall, and others, coordinating communications and joint promotional efforts for Orchestra activities., • Maintain and deepen partnerships with broadcast and distribution partners including but not limited to WRTI and SiriusXM, ensuring effective planning, asset delivery, and storytelling alignment., • Collaborate with Community Impact and Civic Engagement teams to amplify stories that reflect the Orchestra’s role as a convener and civic leader across Philadelphia’s diverse communities., • Represent the communications function at internal and external meetings, including select Board and committee meetings as appropriate. Job Description Title: Development Assistant Department: Development Reports to: Chief Philanthropy Officer Summary: The Development Assistant serves in an administrative support role within The Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts Development office, performing important support tasks that impact the success of the department and the entire organization. The Development Assistant will provide high-level support to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, Vice President of Philanthropy, and Vice President of Development, including but not limited to calendar management, meeting scheduling, maintaining consistent records, data entry, travel arrangements, and written correspondence. The Development Assistant will assist in scheduling and coordinating meetings for the Department and will also provide administrative support for the comprehensive fundraising campaign. The scope of the Development Assistant’s work will require collaboration and coordination with all members of the Development department and other departments, with an especially close collaborative relationship with the Manager, Office of the President and CEO. Essential Functions: • Provide administrative support to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, Vice President of Philanthropy, and Vice President of Development, including scheduling meetings, agendas, drafting correspondence, budget tracking and reporting, travel arrangements, and other team logistics., • Track and manage communications with donors, including scheduling meetings, providing support in preparation for donor meetings, and updating and maintaining records in our donor database., • Facilitate all required donor and volunteer meeting coordination follow-up, including letters and other materials, coordinating additional meetings, and/or securing tickets for performances, events, or other special invitations., • Provide administrative support for several key committees of the Board., • Perform administrative and office support and assist with onboarding new team members and disseminating important information., • Assist with the planning and execution of the Development Department’s full staff meetings and planning retreats., • Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality. Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of administrative support experience. Prior experience working in a non-profit fundraising office is preferred. Knowledge of or appreciation for the performing arts is a plus. The individual in this position is a member of a close-knit team who support production activities at the Miller Theater. Essential Functions: • Assist with load-in, setup, rehearsal, performance, and load-out of presentations in the Miller Theater, • Supervise and help lead the extra IATSE crew during load-in, rehearsal, performance and load-out for presentations in the Miller Theater, • Oversee the safe installation, operation, maintenance and repair of staging, scenery, rigging, and mechanical systems, • Review, interpret and implement technical drawings, ground plans, and rigging plots, • Operate and maintain all in-house theatrical equipment in the Miller Theater, • Maintain and monitor appropriate materials, equipment, tools and supplies as required for production support, • Ability and willingness to work across all departments during non-yellow card attractions, • Work within all theatrical disciplines and attend to a wide range of duties as assigned, • Participate in long term project planning along with management; Develop and specific goals necessary to maintain and improve the department’s capabilities, • Assist with ensuring that all tenant installations conform to applicable fire and safety regulations, especially as regards the maintenance of fire lanes, and clear access to fire exits and emergency supplies Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Substantial experience with a variety of musical and staged attractions in one or more active, large scale metropolitan venues, • Significant experience with scenery, rigging, and carpentry in a theatrical environment, • Proficiency with counterweight fly systems, stage automation, and lifts, • Working knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot theatrical rigging systems and stage machinery, • Strong knowledge of safe rigging practices and OSHA standards, • Working knowledge of theatrical video systems and equipment, • Working knowledge of theatrical lighting systems and equipment, • Familiarity with knot tying, hand/power tools, and scenic construction methods, • Position requires leadership skills and the ability to work as a member of a diverse team while supporting one another to accomplish common goals, • Ability to work independently and in support of a department lead, • Excellent interpersonal skills and comfortable interacting with all staff, management, artists, and the public in a professional manner, • Ability to anticipate potential problems and provide solutions, • Ability to attend to numerous projects concurrently; the ability to respond positively, effectively, and quickly to shifting priorities Working Conditions/Physical Demands: • Affiliation with I.A.T.S.E. union, Local 8 is required after hiring., • Position will require movement and placement of theatrical objects, including prolonged durations of standing as well as pushing, pulling, and lifting items greater than 50lbs, • Position will require work at heights and on ladders & lifts, • Position will require work indoors, outdoors, and in intermittently noisy spaces, • Work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
