MAs are pivotal in managing how the patient flows through the office visits and coordinating with other care team members. The administrative aspects of the Medical Assistant position include scheduling all types of appointments and diagnostic testing; answering and documenting phone calls; and ensuring the patient is connected with appropriate care team members. Also coordinating the completion of paperwork and assisting with medication refills. In the learning environment of a residency program, Medical Assistants play a crucial role in upholding and educating standard work processes and procedures. Proper and accurate documentation within the electronic medical health record: recording patient examination, treatment, and test results.
