Job Description Our organization is currently looking for a full-time, board-eligible or certified pediatric hematologist/oncologist to become a part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Section within the Division of Hematology/Oncology and BMT. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a strong focus on diagnosing and treating patients with hematologic malignancies, as well as an enthusiasm for designing and conducting early-phase clinical trials. The role involves providing both inpatient and outpatient clinical care at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD), alongside responsibilities in teaching and engaging in clinical and translational research. The CCBD typically sees around 400 new oncology patients annually, with over 140 of these being diagnosed with hematologic malignancies. Our center also runs active clinical and research initiatives in areas such as solid tumors, neuro-oncology, hematology, BMT/Cell Therapy, palliative care, and survivorship. We are proud members of various national and international trial consortia, including COG, POETIC, TACL, the Histiocyte Society, and NACHO, and we offer phase I and II industry-sponsored studies as well as investigator-initiated trials. Our ACGME-accredited pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship program accepts three fellows each year. Additionally, we maintain a close collaborative relationship with our BMT & Cell Therapy program, which provides essential services for patients in need of life-saving hematopoietic stem cell transplants and cellular therapies, including CAR-T cell treatments. Faculty members can take advantage of exceptional clinical and research opportunities in partnership with our three academic and clinical collaborators: the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Creighton University, and the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. Ideal candidates should possess a keen interest in mentoring students and contributing to program development, demonstrate academic productivity, and hold board eligibility or certification from the American Board of Pediatrics in the subspecialty of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Compensation and academic rank will be aligned with the candidate's experience. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders sees approximately 400 new oncology patients each year and has ongoing clinical and laboratory research programs in oncology, neuro-oncology, survivorship, hemophilia, and phase I/II investigational drug development. Our ACGME-approved fellowship program in pediatric hematology/oncology accommodates three fellows annually and collaborates with the Mayo Clinic, the Arizona Cancer Center, and the University of Arizona. The BMT program also offers a one-year subspecialty fellowship in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. As the only freestanding children’s hospital in Arizona, our facility includes a dedicated wing with 16 HEPA-filtered, positive pressure rooms designed for patients with compromised immune systems. We serve as a comprehensive tertiary and quaternary care center and function as a primary pediatric teaching institution for students from the University of Arizona, Mayo Clinic Arizona, and Creighton University, offering residency and fellowship programs across various specialties.
