Medical Coordinator Job Summary The Medical Coordinator (MC) is responsible for assisting on ensuring the quality of medical services, treatment, and/or interventions provided to Unaccompanied Children (UC) in the program in collaboration with the contracted physicians. Medical Coordinator is the key monitor of patients' health through observing and assessing their records, symptoms, and reactions to treatment and care. They often have extensive interaction with the UC as well, guiding and instructing them in aftercare measures. The MC assist on the delivery of medical care with the emphasis on disease prevention and health maintenance while ensuring compliance with State licensing, Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), and all policies and procedures implemented by CFRC. Essential Functions • Coordinate appropriate health services, including urgent, emergent, and preventative health services, for children in care. This includes maintaining complete, confidential medical records for children, ensuring appropriate communication of health needs to case managers and clinicians, scheduling health care appointments, • Coordinating transportation to health care appointments, ensuring qualified interpretation and translation services are in place, and serving as a liaison for community health care providers., • Provide support in coordinating medical, dental, and mental health services to meet the needs of the children and ensure that all new arrivals receive their initial medical assessments within 48 hours as required by ORR., • Coordinate the daily administrative activities, including scheduling and client medical record maintenance. Prepare client report transcription from physician record. Assure charts and/or files are recorded and purged as required., • Prepare treatment rooms for medical examinations and assist practitioners with medical procedures and other patient care., • Implement physicians’ orders, create nursing plan of care, administer medications, perform treatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment as directed by physicians and required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations. Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA. Qualifications and Requirements Education/Work Experience Level: • Licensed practical or vocational nurse (LPN/LVN) or higher health-related qualification (e.g., licensed registered nurse (RN) with a bachelor’s degree)., • Minimum of 1 year of employment in public health or a healthcare setting with demonstrated experience in care coordination, health administration, or direct clinical care., • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) – read, speak, write. Equivalent Education/Work Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Working Conditions/Physical Effort The Medical Coordinator is required to maintain a flexible, organized, and efficient work schedule and is subject to work extended hours, weekends, and be on-call. Work is performed mostly in an office setting. Some overnight travel, public speaking, evening and weekend work are requirements of the position. Regular computer works also required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; finger, handle, or feel objects, or controls; reach; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Are exposed to diseases or infections on a daily basis. Always wear masks or rubber gloves to protect themselves and their patients from disease. Usually work indoors. Work very near patients and doctors. They come into physical contact with patients throughout the day. Usually wear a uniform or lab jacket. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
