Join our healthcare team and make a difference in Virginia's healthcare community.\n \n\nICU Registered Nurse Job Details\n\n • Location: Newport News, VA (23601) – Virginia nursing jobs\n, • Setting: Critical Care Float Pool (SICU, MICU, CCU, OICU)\n, • Employment Type: Travel Contract – Travel nurse opportunity\n, • Contract Duration: 13 weeks\n, • Start Date: January 19, 2026\n, • End Date: April 20, 2026\n, • Shift: Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19:00 - 07:00)\n, • Hours per Week: 36\n, • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required\n, • Orientation: 40 hours\n\n\nRegistered Nurse Qualifications\n\n, • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state\n, • Minimum 18 months of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience\n, • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (American Heart Association preferred)\n, • Experience with EPIC charting system required\n, • Specialty experience within the last year in ICU/critical care\n, • Stroke education (NIH) required\n, • Ability to float between SICU, MICU, CCU, OICU, CVT, and ED as needed\n, • Flexible scheduling; must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled\n, • One supervisory reference required for submission (two for compliance)\n\n\nICU Nurse Responsibilities\n\n, • Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill patients in multiple ICU units\n, • Manage complex patient cases including trauma, sepsis, DKA, neuro, cardiac, and oncology\n, • Administer blood products, titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, and manage ventilators\n, • Assist with advanced procedures: chest tube insertion/removal, central line care, arterial line management\n, • Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and cardiac dysrhythmias\n, • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response\n, • Float to various critical care units and the emergency department as needed\n, • Maintain strict infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions\n Planet Healthcare Job ID #445597.
