Job Description Aquasize / Water Fitness Instructor Organization: Radburn Association Location: Radburn B Pool, Fair Lawn, NJ Dates: June 29th to Sept 4th 2026 Hours: M-W-F 10:30-11:30 AM, T-Th 6:00-7:00 PM Reports To: Pool Manager Position Summary The Aquasize Instructor is responsible for planning and leading safe, engaging, and effective water fitness classes for adult participants of varying ages and fitness levels. This role promotes physical wellness, injury prevention, and community engagement through low-impact aquatic exercise programs conducted in accordance with industry standards and Radburn Association policies. Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: reviewing and maintaining accurate files related to camper health care needs, overseeing the administration of medications as necessary, maintaining communication with the Director and parents around camper or staff health needs and ensuring all camp health and safety procedures are followed to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all. Requirements: Primary Responsibilities: • Prior to camp opening, review child health records, prepare lists of campers with medical conditions and organize and review procedures for health and emergency care., • Be familiar with the American Camp Association and New Jersey State regulations related to the health and safety of all in camp. Participate actively in the maintenance and development of high standards of health and safety., • Be responsible to advise camp administration when out-of-camp medical/health assistance is required/prudent/advisable., • Maintain the first aid room in a clean, sanitary manner and well stocked with supplies., • Keep all first aid kits appropriately stocked and serviceable., • Provide complete information to staff concerning their campers, based on pre-season health forms and information provided by parents., • Communicate frequently and regularly with the Camp Director. Reports damaged equipment., • Cooperate and interact with all members, staff, program participants, and volunteers in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner., • Demonstrate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility., • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned periodically by the supervisor., • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with members, volunteers, staff, and participants., • Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants., • Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations and follow mandated abuse reporting procedures. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: • Emotional Maturity, • Collaboration, • Critical Thinking and Decision Making QUALIFICATIONS: • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer (BLS), AED, Oxygen Administration, & Basic First Aid certification., • Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification OR get certified within 90 days of employment., • Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with stage 4 or higher with YMCA standards., • At least 15 years of age. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques., • Ability to lift and pull equipment 50 pounds, and to lift a small to average size child., • Ability to stand for long periods of time., • Must be in good physical condition to teach classes., • Must have ability to work inside and outside (i.e. humidity, hot, cold, inclement weather conditions)., • Must have ability to concentrate in a loud environment.
