Job Summary The Metals Operator plays a critical role in supporting the physical and/or financial trading of base metals. This position ensures smooth and efficient execution of trades from deal capture through to final settlement, coordinating closely with traders, contracts, logistics, finance, and risk management, and settlement teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commodities operations, particularly in the metals sector, and be highly detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable. Key Responsibilities Trade Execution & Lifecycle Management: • Accurately capture and confirm trades in internal systems., • Monitor and manage the full lifecycle of trades from initiation to settlement., • Liaise with traders to validate trade details and resolve discrepancies. Logistics & Scheduling: • Coordinate with warehouses, transporters, and counterparties for the delivery and receipt of physical metal (e.g., copper, zinc, aluminum)., • Manage shipping documentation, including bills of lading, warehouse receipts, and customs paperwork., • Ensure compliance with Incoterms and international trade regulations. Documentation & Compliance: • Prepare and verify trade documentation (invoices, packing lists, LC documents)., • Ensure operational procedures comply with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., LME, ICE, trade finance standards). Financial Operations: • Work with finance to ensure timely invoicing, payment processing, and cash flow tracking., • Support trade financing arrangements, such as Letters of Credit and performance bonds. Risk & Controls: • Monitor operational risk exposures and implement mitigating controls., • Assist with audits and provide required documentation to internal/external parties. Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field., • 2–5 years of experience in commodities operations, preferably metals., • Knowledge of trade lifecycle, shipping/logistics, and international trade documentation., • Familiarity with LME/ICE or other metals trading platforms is a plus., • Proficient in MS Excel and trade management systems (e.g., Endur, CTRM systems).
