Driver and Dispatch ManagerHarrogate, HG3 2SG£16.00 per hour + £3.00 per hour unsocial hours supplement between 11pm and 6amFull-time | 40 hours per weekWednesday to Saturday | Approx. midnight10amWe are looking for an experienced Driver and Dispatch Manager to take responsibility for our day-to-day delivery operation, lead our team of drivers and help manage our fleet of eight company vans.This is a very hands-on role combining packing , driving, dispatch, team supervision and fleet coordination.The first 23 hours of each shift are focused on getting products packed and ready for delivery. This is a team effort, with everyone pitching in to make sure orders are prepared, loaded and ready to leave on time.From there, you will help coordinate the delivery operation, regularly complete delivery routes yourself and lead the driver team, while ensuring vehicles are properly maintained and the overall operation runs smoothly.This is not a desk-based management position, so we're looking for someone who enjoys being actively involved in the day-to-day operation and leading by example.The RoleWorking closely with our Logistics Manager, you will help ensure our bakery products are packed, loaded and delivered to customers safely, efficiently and on time.Your responsibilities will include:Working alongside the team to pack products during the first 23 hours of each shiftMaking sure orders are prepared and ready for loading and dispatchCoordinating daily delivery schedules and dispatching driversRegularly completing delivery routes yourselfSupervising and providing day-to-day support to the driver teamPlanning routes and allocating drivers and vehiclesResponding quickly to delivery, staffing or transport issuesMonitoring driver performance using vehicle tracking informationHelping onboard and train new driversMaintaining accurate delivery, vehicle and operational recordsLiaising with customers and colleagues regarding deliveries and service updatesIdentifying opportunities to improve routes, processes and operational efficiencyFleet ManagementYou will also help manage our fleet of eight electric and diesel vans, including:Coordinating servicing, MOTs, repairs and maintenanceCarrying out regular vehicle checksEnsuring vehicles remain safe, roadworthy and compliantMonitoring mileage, fuel usage and vehicle performanceMaintaining insurance, tax and maintenance documentationManaging vehicle allocationsEnsuring appropriate health & safety and transport procedures are followedAbout YouWe're looking for someone with previous experience in a delivery, transport, logistics or similar operational environment who is ready to take responsibility for both people and day-to-day operations.Ideally, you will have:Previous experience within transport, delivery, distribution or logisticsExperience supervising, coordinating or leading drivers or an operational teamExperience coordinating delivery routes, schedules or dispatch operationsExperience looking after vehicles or a small fleetA full UK driving licenceStrong organisational and problem-solving skillsConfidence making decisions and dealing with operational issuesGood communication and people-management skillsA practical, hands-on approach and willingness to pitch in wherever neededThe ability to work effectively during permanent night and early-morning hoursPrevious experience as a Transport Supervisor, Dispatch Supervisor, Fleet Supervisor, Lead Driver, Senior Delivery Driver or in a similar operational role could be particularly relevant.Hours and PayThe role works four 10-hour shifts per week, Wednesday to Saturday, approximately midnight to 10am.The standard rate is £16.00 per hour, with an additional £3.00 per hour unsocial hours supplement for hours worked between 11pm and 6am.What We Offer£16.00 per hourAdditional £3.00 per hour for hours worked between 11pm and 6amFour-day working weekFull-time, permanent positionFree on-site parkingA varied role combining packing , driving, logistics, fleet coordination and team leadershipThe opportunity to take ownership of an important part of our day-to-day operationIf you have experience in transport or delivery operations, enjoy leading people and are happy to roll your sleeves up and work alongside the team , we'd be pleased to hear from you.Equals One is an advertising and recruitment agency working on behalf of our client to promote this vacancy.
