This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners with additional learning needs, helping them overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their potential.Working alongside tutors and education staff, youll play an essential role in ensuring all learners receive tailored support to succeed in their studies and beyond.What youll be doingLearner Support & EngagementBuild positive relationships with learners to understand their needs and support their learning journeyProvide tailored, in-class or one-to-one support for learners with additional learning needs (ALN), including disabilitiesInspire, motivate, and help learners develop confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skillsMonitor learner wellbeing and check progress regularly through face-to-face reviewsSupport Planning & ReviewDevelop and maintain course-specific support plans aligned to the SEND graduated approachReview and update support plans regularly, including for learners transferring between establishmentsUse assessment tools (e.g. Do It Profiler) to inform tailored learning strategiesRecord and manage all support documentation accurately within MoJ systemsCollaboration & InclusionWork closely with tutors, trainers, and prison teams to ensure effective support is in placeSupport a whole-prison approach to additional learning needsEngage with stakeholders such as healthcare teams and neurodiversity specialistsAssist with reasonable adjustments for assessments where requiredEnvironment & ComplianceMaintain safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environmentsEnsure all work complies with prison security, safeguarding, and contractual requirementsSupport wider team delivery, including cover for student support roles as neededContribute to achieving contractual targets and quality standardsWhat were looking forEssentialGCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English (Grade C or above)Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional learning needsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to manage a caseload and maintain accurate recordsKnowledge of effective strategies for supporting ALN learners and SEND Code of PracticeOrganised, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a teamGood IT skills and administrative capabilityPassion for supporting learners to achieve and overcome barriersDesirableLevel 3 qualification in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities (or willingness to achieve)Experience in prison or secure environmentsAwareness of OFSTED EIFWhy join us?Make a direct impact on learners lives by supporting inclusive education and rehabilitationBe part of a supportive and collaborative education teamDevelop your skills in SEND and prison educationAccess training and professional development opportunitiesOur valuesWere looking for people who demonstrate:Customer First supporting learners to improve their livesTrue North acting with integrityOwn It taking accountabilityImprove to be the best striving for excellenceApply nowIf youre passionate about supporting learners and making education accessible to all, wed love to hear from you.TPBN1_UKTJ
