    Woodworking Machinist – Part Time / Flexible Wilson Hardwoods Co is looking for an experienced woodworking machinist to help process hardwood timber at our workshop near Ware, Hertfordshire (SG11). The initial work is one paid day, preparing a batch of hardwood offcuts. If it works well for both sides, we hope to offer regular work, initially around 1-2 days a week, with the possibility of increasing to three days. The work includes: • Planing and thicknessing hardwood to the required dimensions, • Rip cutting and cross cutting timber, • Checking dimensions and finish, • Keeping the work area tidy and using dust extraction and machine guards correctly, • Packaging Timber You must have practical experience operating woodworking machinery, particularly a planer/thicknesser and circular saws. We’re looking for someone who can work carefully and independently once familiar with our machines and workshop procedures. We’ll ask about your experience and assess safe machine use before you work unsupervised. Pay: £150–£180 per day, depending on the agreed hours and experience. Days are typically 8–10 hours, with the hours and pay agreed in advance. The first day is paid. A driving licence would be useful for possible future collections and deliveries, but is not essential for the initial work. Your expertise in commercial driving and safe handling of heavy-duty vehicles will ensure smooth deliveries and pickups, contributing to the seamless operation of our supply chain. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced environment where safety, precision, and reliability are paramount. Responsibilities • Safely operate skip lorries to transport waste, debris, or construction materials between designated locations, • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with road regulations, • Load and unload materials carefully, adhering to safety protocols and weight limits, • Navigate urban and rural routes efficiently, maintaining punctuality for scheduled deliveries and pickups, • Maintain accurate delivery logs, vehicle maintenance records, and compliance documentation, • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site personnel to coordinate schedules and resolve any logistical issues, • Follow all safety procedures and traffic laws diligently to prevent accidents or incidents, • Carry out daily vehicle checks and keeping the vehicle clean and presentable, • Follow all relevant driving, health and safety and waste regulations Qualifications • Valid class 2 HGV driving license with relevant experience for operating skip lorries., • Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably with knowledge of skip lorry operations or similar heavy-duty vehicles, • Strong understanding of road safety regulations and vehicle maintenance procedures, • Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record, • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks such as loading/unloading materials safely, • Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and site personnel, • In date Tacho card & CPC We are keen to promote from within and give the right person the opportunity to take on more responsibility, new roles and increased earnings as they develop.
