Building a sustainable tomorrow\n\nBAM UK & Ireland are recruiting a Ventilation/Mechanically skilled Engineer to work in conjunction with our site-based Facilities Management staff at University Hospital Southampton. You will carry out planned maintenance\n\nThis is a full time role working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday on a rotating early/late shift. One week in every three weeks you will be working a late shift 13:30 to 22:00.\n\nMaking Possible\n\nCarrying out planned preventative maintenance and complete the appropriate paperwork and reports.\nExtensive knowledge and experience with planned and reactive maintenance of ventilation / mechanical equipment and associated electrics.\nHave experience of ventilation /mechanical maintenance, testing & fault finding on a variety of equipment including, plumbing, boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, switchgear, controls, cables, small power and lighting.\nLiaison and supervision of subcontractors in relation to method statement risk assessment and safe execution of works.\nAbility to read, understand and diagnose faults utilising as-installed electrical drawings, as-installed schedules, contract specifications and equipment.\nIdentify spare parts to carry out repairs and order through appropriate channels, monitoring of stock related items.\nCarry out planned and reactive maintenance of ventilation / mechanical plant in line with HTMs and SFG20.\n\nEnsuring all tasks are completed within the contractual time scales.\nAssisting other team members when required or as directed.\nProactively being involved with reducing energy consumption on site.\nUndertake AP (vent) duties if required.\n\nWhat’s in it for you?\n\n• A challenging and continuously changing environment in a forward thinking organisation. In addition to an attractive salary and benefits package, we support further personal growth and development.\n• BAM operates a flexible working policy.\n\nWhat do you bring to the role?\n\nMinimum 4 years’ experience as a ventilation / mechanical engineer, in a busy service environment.\nHVAC qualifications would be an advantage.\nTraining in or experience of General H&S Regulations, carrying out the preparation of Risk Assessments for works within the site.\nMust be experienced and self-motivated and able to identify concerns / defects without direction.\nReliable. (Through regular reviews of works attendance, attitude and competence).\nBasic electrical , plumbing and mechanical experience.\nGood communication and organisational skills.\nAbility to use initiative in day to day duties.\n\nWorking a rotating shift, shift 1, 08:00 to 16:30 with 0.5hr lunch, shift 2, 13:30 to 22:00 with 0.5hr lunch. Current shift pattern Shift 1, Shift 1 Shift 2 rotating.\nBe part of the on call roster, offering 24/7 support to site, typically 1 week in 6.\nAssist in the fulfilment of health and safety responsibilities within the Hospital.\nProvide general support duties.\n\nHoliday cover for other colleagues on similar shift pattern.\n\nOther reasonable requests when required.\n\nAbout BAM\n\nBuilding a sustainable tomorrow.
