In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate closely with our Bid and Cost Management teams to craft accurate and competitive estimates for MEP projects, guiding them from pre-tender to post-tender stages. \n As a key player in shaping our pricing strategy, your electrical expertise and commercial insight will help us identify risks, challenge solutions, and propose cost-effective alternatives that set NG Bailey apart from the competition. Your Key Responsibilities\n In this role, you will: \n\n • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for MEP projects, focusing on electrical services.\n, • Produce detailed take-offs and measures from drawings and specifications to establish precise project costs.\n, • Price labour, materials, subcontractors, and plant using current market data and productivity allowances.\n, • Collaborate with Bid Managers and Cost Managers to develop bid strategies and enhance our commercial position.\n, • Utilize your technical knowledge to challenge solutions and identify alternative, cost-effective approaches.\n, • Assess supplier and subcontractor quotations alongside our technical experts.\n, • Stay updated on market pricing to ensure our estimates remain competitive and relevant.\n, • Engage with stakeholders throughout the tender process to ensure accurate and timely submissions.\n, • Support and mentor junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.\n, • Provide a seamless handover of tender information to the project delivery team post-contract award.\nWhat We’re Looking For\n If you’re an experienced Electrical Cost Engineer or Estimator with a solid understanding of building services and a passion for winning work, we want to hear from you! The Army United Kingdom £27,282 a year (after training) Master your craft and learn to use it all over the world. As a full-time soldier, entry-level Carpenter in the British Army, youll: • Plan carpentry and joinery tasks from sketches and apply them in field, • Learn to use and maintain workshop machinery, • Prepare timber for use, manufacture joints, use adhesives, produce windows, door frames and fitments, • Carry out general construction work including first-fix timber frames and second-fix joinery fitments, • Construct scaffolding, interpret scaffold terms and erect access scaffold and install ladders, • Install partitions, floors, roofing, timber-framed buildings, formwork and shoring, • Study for carpentry qualifications (including Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Carpentry and Joining (Military Engineering) and L2 apprenticeship) To qualify, you must: • Be between 16 years 6 months and 35 years 6 months, • Have a GCSE Grade A-C/9-5 or Scottish National 5 in Maths, English Language and one other subject, • Be able to pass a basic fitness test. Set yourself up for life. From the start of your training, youll earn £27,282 a year which will go up as you progress in your career. From your first day of training, youll be gaining transferrable skills skills that could set you up for life. You dont need to know how to do the job before you get here, because well give you all the training you need. Step 1 is your initial military training teaching you how to be a soldier which will be basic military training if youre a Junior Soldier and adult basic training if youre a Regular Soldier. Step 2 will be 12 weeks at the Royal School of Military Engineering where youll learn military engineering skills including demolition and bridge building. Step 3 will be 21 weeks of carpentry training including using machinery and hand tools to make timber building materials. Youll also receive 30 days annual leave every year (plus bank holidays and extra leave after operations), free medical and dental care, cheaper living costs, and free gym and sports facilities. And unless you're away on operations or training exercises, you'll normally work 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
