Role: Freelance AV Technician Job Type: Freelance / Casual (Shift-based) Work Location: On-site Location: Southbank Centre, London For the past 10 years, Live Wire has worked across Formula 1, supplying technology to the major teams and F1 Management. Our work varies from constructing viewer experiences in teams' hospitality suites, paddock, garages and factories elevating each of the 24 races a year. We work closely with our suppliers to deliver pioneering technology and integrate innovation into all of the work we do. Live Wire provides AV technology for all genres of events including Festivals, Concerts, Conferences, Theatre and Dance. We work with large concert halls in London such as Southbank Centre, Barbican, Sadlers Wells to provide technicians, support and equipment. Job Description: Live Wire are looking for Freelance Technicians to support our work in the London based venues, providing reliable technical delivery across a varied programme of live events. Working on-site alongside venue and production teams, you’ll support the setup, operation and de-rig of AV, sound, lighting and stage systems to ensure events run safely, smoothly and to a consistently high standard. As a Freelance Technician your duties will include: • Supporting the preparation, installation, operation and de-rig of AV, sound and/or lighting equipment for events taking place at Southbank Centre, • Working effectively alongside Southbank Centre technical teams, visiting production companies, artists and Live Wire colleagues to deliver events safely and professionally, • Providing hands-on AV, sound and/or lighting support, including video, projection, playback and display systems, and assisting across wider technical disciplines as part of the production team, • Ensuring AV, sound and/or lighting systems are set up correctly, tested thoroughly and operated safely, following agreed technical plans and venue procedures, • Monitoring and troubleshooting AV, sound and/or lighting systems during live events, responding calmly and effectively to issues to maintain continuity of the show, • Handling equipment responsibly, ensuring it is used correctly, stored safely and returned in good condition after each event, • Maintaining a safe, tidy and organised working environment, in line with Southbank Centre and Live Wire health & safety standards, • Communicating clearly with technical supervisors and production teams, flagging issues or risks early and supporting smooth event delivery AV Technician Essential Skills Required: • Proven experience supporting live events with hands-on knowledge of AV, sound, lighting and stage systems/equipment within a venue or live events environment, • A working understanding of related technical disciplines (AV, sound, lighting or stage) and the confidence to assist across departments as required in a live venue environment, • Strong troubleshooting skills in resolving issues within complex, integrated systems, particularly under the pressure of live production, • Practical experience working with video signals and formats (e.g. SDI, HDMI), including setting up, testing and fault-finding video and display systems during rehearsals and live shows, • Working knowledge of desks such as GrandMA3 (lighting) and Yamaha QL Series, • Experience with setting up and operating media servers and live video switchers but not limited to the following: Pixera, Green Hippo, Blackmagic, Resoulme, V-MIX Desirable Requirements: • Demonstrable experience working on live events across a range of productions and environments, • Experience working on large-scale or high-profile events, preferably orchestral stage setting experience, is beneficial, • 5 years experience working within events of varying demand, • Experience with LED walls - rigging, cabling, programming processors (Novastar) We are a global fast-growing company which offers a variety of opportunities for you to develop your skill set and career.
