Exams Access Arrangements Assessor South Yorkshire Fixed Term Contract for 12 months Part time (2/3 days per week – flexible) £33,787 - £42,766 per annum (FTE) Are you passionate about supporting learners with SEND and ensuring they have the tools, confidence, and access arrangements needed to thrive in education? Reed FE is seeking a dedicated and skilled ALS Assessor & Specialist Teacher to join an Additional Learning Support (ALS) team. This role is essential in providing high quality assessments, targeted interventions, and specialist support across the college. About the Role As a key member of the ALS department, you will support learners across Further Education, Apprenticeships, and Higher Education by delivering personalised interventions and ensuring appropriate access arrangements for exams. Your work will directly impact learner success, independence, and progression. Essential Requirement – MUST HOLD: Level 7 Assessor Qualification (Assessor for Access Arrangements / SpLD Assessor) Applications without this qualification cannot be considered. Key Responsibilities Teaching & Learning Support • Deliver individualised ALS interventions to students on FE and/or Apprenticeship programmes., • Carry out ongoing assessment of learner progress and adapt support accordingly., • Maintain accurate records of support delivered. Assessment & Screening • Complete Access Arrangements Assessments for students and apprentices with SEND., • Conduct Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD) screenings for HE learners and provide interim support recommendations. SEND Support & Planning • Contribute to identifying needs, planning support, and tracking the progression of students and apprentices with SEND, including those who hold EHCPs., • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, the ALS Manager, external agencies, and families to ensure holistic support. Essential Criteria • Level 7 Assessor Qualification (e.g., APC, CPT3A, or equivalent)., • Experience working with learners with SEND in FE/HE settings., • Strong understanding of JCQ regulations and Access Arrangements requirements., • Ability to deliver high-quality 1:1 specialist interventions., • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.Desirable, • Experience supporting learners on Apprenticeship programmes., • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation., • Previous experience in assessment or teaching within ALS or Learning Support teams. All candidates who register with Reed Further Education will have 2 years’ referencing taken up and will be required to have a DBS check completed. All offers are conditional upon satisfactory background checks.
