Site Engineer – Tunnelling / Heavy Civils Long-Term Contract | Major Infrastructure Scheme | South Coast We are looking for a capable and driven Site Engineer to support delivery on a major tunnelling and pipeline infrastructure scheme. This is a key role on a technically challenging section of works, offering long-term continuity and the opportunity to be part of a high-performing delivery team. This position will suit an engineer with strong setting out capability and previous experience in tunnelling, shafts, or heavy civils who is confident working in a fast-paced, site-based environment. The Role You will play a critical part in the delivery of tunnelling works, supporting day-to-day site operations and ensuring engineering accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout. Key Responsibilities Setting out for tunnelling, shafts, and associated civils works Managing and maintaining accurate site records, QA documentation, and as-builts Supporting delivery teams with technical input and problem solving Ensuring works are carried out in line with design, specifications, and ITPs Liaising with subcontractors, supervisors, and management on site Assisting with permits, RAMS, and ensuring health & safety compliance Monitoring progress and reporting back to senior engineering and management teams What We’re Looking For Proven experience as a Site Engineer in heavy civils, tunnelling, or pipeline environments Strong setting out skills using GPS/Total Station Experience working on shafts, microtunnelling, or underground works (highly desirable) Good understanding of QA processes, ITPs, and site documentation Ability to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team Strong communication and organisational skills Certifications / Qualifications CSCS Card (essential) SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable) Confined Spaces (desirable) What’s on Offer Long-term programme of work on a major infrastructure scheme Competitive day rate (Outside IR35 subject to assessment) Opportunity to work on technically complex tunnelling works Strong pipeline of future work for high performers If you’re an engineer who enjoys technically demanding projects and wants to be part of a major infrastructure delivery, this is an excellent opportunity to get involved.
