Operating a fast-paced seven-day operation with a six-day delivery service, the site plays a key role in supplying fresh and chilled products to customers across the region. The Role Reporting to the Depot Technical Manager, you will take responsibility for maintaining and improving food safety, quality, and compliance standards across the depot. This is a hands-on role that works closely with operational teams to ensure that all products received, stored, and dispatched meet the highest standards. Key responsibilities include: • Leading internal and external audits, • Managing and improving the site Quality Management System, • Ensuring compliance with legal, customer, and food safety requirements, • Overseeing the inspection and quality management of incoming and outgoing stock, • Identifying and addressing non-compliance issues and implementing corrective actions, • Investigating quality and food safety complaints and ensuring timely resolution, • Completing departmental KPIs and performance reviews, • Supporting the site in achieving strong results during external audits, • Championing a positive food safety and quality culture, • Building strong working relationships across departments and with technical teams at other sites What We’re Looking For We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused quality professional who thrives in a fast-paced food environment. Work with electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems including motors, conveyors, mixers, and ovens. Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment. Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment servicing. Ensure all engineering work complies with health, safety, and food safety regulations. Work closely with production teams to maintain smooth and efficient operations. Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring issues. Skills & Qualifications Essential Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Multiskilled Engineer role within manufacturing or food production. Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding ability. Experience working with PLCs and production machinery. Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Good understanding of health and safety regulations. Desirable HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent). Experience working with food safety standards such as HACCP or BRC. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or TPM. Personal Attributes Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
