The Opportunity We are looking for a Head of HSE to join our UK HSE team on a 3-year fixed term contract. The Head of HSE is responsible for ensuring that the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) aspects of all operations within UK & Ireland KAEFER business are delivered to the relevant applicable standards and comply with all relevant legislation for the company. They will also assist in the development and implementation of the KAEFER UK&I Business HSE strategy to deliver and facilitate growth of HSE services in the region and provide technical and administrative direction on HSE decisions, which bear critical importance to overall company objectives, operations, and profitability. In addition, they will provide leadership, visibility, interface and accountability of the HSE function and work in collaboration with other members of the team and the wider business to facilitate high performance delivery and continual improvement, through successful implementation of processes and systems, in a sustainable manner. How you will make an impact • Provide statutory and procedural guidance to the HSE function and site operational teams with the aim of ensuring compliance and assessing opportunities for continuous improvement., • Set and agree HSE Standards for KAEFER project delivery, ensuring that an HSE Plan is in place for each operation in accordance with KAEFER procedures., • Provide effective leadership to the HSE team. Responsible for recruitment, training, and development of the HSE team to ensure that adequate resources are available to fulfil the business need and that staff possess the requisite skills and competencies to undertake their roles effectively., • Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the company to create a culture that prioritises effective HSE., • Assist the HSE Director in updating existing HSE policies and procedures of the company to ensure they are current and appropriate., • Engage with relevant Statutory Bodies, enforcing authorities and customers to keep abreast of current and changes in legislation and communicate to wider HSE team., • Provide statistical analysis, metrics and reporting of HSE performance to HSE Director when required., • Ensure that reporting and investigations of Events (Accidents and incidents) are robust, and the communication and application of key learning points/learning from experience is effectively undertaken., • Act as the HSE function’s focal point for PPE improvements and Occupational Health, working collaboratively with Supply Chain and Occupational Health Lead., • Work collaboratively with other members of the HSE team. What you will bring • Experience of holding senior HSE management role within similar multi-discipline environments, • Experience of working in high hazard industries for example in marine, nuclear and or construction (at least one of these is required), • Experience of leading multi-site HSE teams across several regions, • Ability to demonstrate HSE Leadership, develop and grow KAEFER’s HSE teams under your remit, • Degree/Diploma level qualification in HSE or equivalent, • Ability to travel - KAEFER sites are both UK and Ireland based and therefore travel to client offices and sites will be undertaken to support HSE Leadership visibility, business development, and HSE delivery.
