Working across LAN, WAN, cloud networking and central infrastructure services, the role helps translate demand, service insight and operational feedback into platform improvements that deliver measurable user and business outcomes.You will work with Platform Owners, internal teams and suppliers to help ensure platform improvements are prioritised, planned and delivered in line with user needs, business value, resilience, security and long-term platform strategy.Job descriptionNetwork Services provides critical connectivity and network capabilities that support HMRC colleagues, digital services and operational sites across a large and distributed estate. These platforms include LAN, WAN, cloud networking and central network infrastructure services.The Associate Platform Owner supports the effective ownership and ongoing improvement of these platforms. The role helps connect day-to-day operational insight with longer-term platform health, lifecycle management, roadmap planning, risk management and continuous improvement.You will support Platform Owners in developing platform roadmaps, managing backlogs, gathering user insight and helping prioritise platform investment. You will work across engineering, service, architecture and supplier communities to help ensure platform improvements are aligned to business needs, platform strategy and measurable outcomes.Person specificationThis is a practical associate platform ownership role, suited to someone with strong organisational skills, curiosity about user needs and an interest in developing product-thinking, prioritisation and platform ownership capability across Network Services.Responsibilities:Platform ownership support, roadmap and improvementSupport Platform Owners in maintaining platform roadmaps and backlogs, helping ensure work is shaped around user needs, business value, resilience, security and service outcomes.Assist with prioritising platform backlog items, lifecycle work, remediation activity and continuous improvement actions using performance insight, demand signals, risks and dependencies.Support the development and maintenance of platform plans and roadmap views, ensuring priorities, risks, dependencies and operational considerations are visible and managed.Help identify opportunities to improve user experience, service quality, operational control and consistency across Network Services platforms.Platform insight, assets and enablementMaintain asset information, inventories, service records and dependency information so Platform Owners can make informed roadmap, lifecycle and prioritisation decisions.Support lab and test environments used to explore platform change, validate improvements and provide evidence for roadmap and backlog decisions.Gather and analyse platform performance measures, user feedback and service insights to identify improvement opportunities and support roadmap decisions.Help improve platform processes, controls and coordinate platform backlog activity, improvement work, maintenance and remediation in line with agreed priorities.Support supplier delivery by tracking actions, progress, risks and outcomes against agreed platform priorities, roadmap commitments and service outcomes.Engage with stakeholders to understand user needs, demand, constraints and priorities that inform platform planning and service improvement activity.Communicate clearly, providing accurate information to support prioritisation, trade-off decisions and effective platform ownership.Risk, dependency and operational awarenessSupport the identification and coordination of issue resolution, remediation activity and preventative improvement actions that inform backlog and roadmap priorities.Maintain awareness of platform risks, dependencies, lifecycle considerations, user impact and operational constraints across services.Support root cause analysis, problem management and change-related activity where Network Services.Essential Criteria:The successful candidate must be able to clearly demonstrate evidence of the following Essential Criteria:• Experience working within an IT, infrastructure or network services environment, supporting platform-based or product-led technology services.• Experience supporting platform, product, service or technology improvement initiatives, including planning, prioritisation, backlog management or delivery of change.• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage and track multiple activities, actions, risks and priorities.• Experience using performance data, service insight, user feedback, asset information or operational information to inform decisions and support improvement activity.• Experience working collaboratively across teams, including with suppliers, internal stakeholders and technical teams.• Good communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and support effective decision-making.• A proactive approach to identifying issues, understanding user impact, supporting resolution and contributing to continuous improvement.Desirable Criteria: Ideally you will also have experience or understanding
