Adults Safeguarding Strategic Development and Board Manager We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Adults Safeguarding Strategic Development and Board Manager. In this role you will be responsible for managing the Merton Safeguarding Adults Board’s (MSAB) strategic business planning processes and overseeing the governance and legal operation of the MSAB, with a clear partnership focus. Through this role, you will oversee the work of the MSAB and ensure that there is continual learning and improvement within Safeguarding Adults in Merton, ensuring the Board fulfils its statutory duties, meeting national and local requirements. You will possess excellent organisational, interpersonal and leadership skills to develop and sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders. You will be proactive in delivering results and engaging with the community and other partners. You will ensure that strategies, policies, and procedures relating to safeguarding adults are relevant, up to date and embedded across all partner agencies. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the work of the MSAB improves the lives of adults at risk and that Safeguarding Adults practice in Merton takes account of personal wishes and preferred outcomes. You will also coordinate and complete Safeguarding Adults Review (SAR) processes on behalf of the Safeguarding Adults Board, and develop and oversee the work of the MSAB sub-groups. You will take the lead in overseeing the reporting framework, including an annual report of the work of the MSAB and relevant Boards and Scrutiny Panels. As the post-holder, you will: • Have extensive experience of safeguarding work relevant to the level and nature of the post., • Have extensive, sophisticated and up to date working knowledge of relevant national and local policy, statutory guidance and legislation in relation to the provision of social care services., • Be able to to communicate effectively with partners in statutory, voluntary and third sector organisations, in highly charged, complex or challenging situations to a wide range of audiences for different purposes and at different levels, including public speaking., • Be able to routinely explain professional reasoning, judgements and decisions made and record these in a clear concise way., • Have experience in the preparation, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of management information and producing recommendations for implementation, related to the field of health and social care commissioning or delivery., • Have consistent experience in promoting anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive practices in service delivery., • Hold the ability to influence organisational development pro-actively, using feedback from your area of responsibility. Charity People are delighted to be supporting a Voluntary Service Council to recruit a Strategic Lead. The charity has been administrating and managing grants for around two decades. They have a collaborative grant-giving programme, where they work with local people and organisations to raise funds that are distributed across the borough to charitable organisations that are working locally to tackle inequality and change lives for the better in Merton. The Strategic Lead will lead, develop, and manage the giving programme for a charity in collaboration with key stakeholders and partners. This will involve the development and implementation of a programme strategy and business plan, as well as supporting colleagues to develop and implement fundraising, marketing, and grant-making strategies and plans. Key responsibilities • Organisational strategy & business plan: Develop and implement an innovative programme strategy and sustainable business plan for the giving programme and align strategy and plans with funder objectives and the wider aims of the charity., • Partnership development: Identify and secure new partners to support the giving programme's success, strengthen relationships with key stakeholders (London Borough of Merton, Merton Chamber of Commerce) to unlock fundraising, marketing, and grant-making opportunities, convene and facilitate quarterly Steering Committee meetings and produce update reports, and represent the giving programme., • Grant-making: Assist the Grants Manager in developing a comprehensive grant-making strategy, including participatory practices, and ensure robust monitoring and evaluation for all grant-making initiatives., • Budget management: Oversee programme income and expenditure in collaboration with the Finance Team, lead on budgeting, financial monitoring, and reporting; produce quarterly finance reports for the Steering Committee, • Fundraising and marketing: Support the Fundraising & Engagement Manager in delivering a sustainable fundraising strategy, and work with the Marketing Manager to implement an effective marketing strategy that enhances the giving programme's profile. The successful candidate will have significant experience of developing and delivering community programmes across borough or equivalent. You will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experiences: • Ability to create, develop, and deliver quality programmes and projects, • Significant experience of staff or volunteer line management and development, • Ability to network and form positive and productive working relationships with a range of people from different professional and personal backgrounds, • Good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, • Excellent co-ordination and organisational skills, including ability to prioritise and plan own workload, manage multiple tasks and work to tight deadlines, • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, • Experience of gathering and analysing data to evidence outputs and outcomes, • Strong leadership skills with the ability to innovate, inspire and gain respect at all levels of an organisation, • Understanding of fundraising You will also need to be able to demonstrate good local knowledge of the voluntary sector, knowledge and understanding of outcomes focused work, and excellent IT skills including experience of Office365 and databases. If you have worked within a grant-giving organisation before this would be beneficial. The charity is based in Mitcham (CR4 3UD) and you will be willing to attend the office at least 1-2 times a week, as well as be able to attend meetings and events within Merton.
