ob Title Deputy Care Manager / Care Manager Responsible to: Director / Responsible Individual Location: (Supported Accommodation and Community Based Services) The service runs in 6 different locations. Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications) Hours: Full time (with flexibility to meet service needs) Job Purpose The Care Manager will provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership to the service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care in line with CQC regulations, Care Act 2014, and organisational values. The post holder will be responsible for day-to-day management of the service, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, safeguarding, and business sustainability. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Management Provide effective leadership to the care and support workforce, promoting a positive, accountable, and learning culture. Oversee day to day operational management of supported accommodation and community-based services. Ensure staffing levels, rotas, and skill mix meet service user needs and contractual requirements. Lead recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, and performance management of staff. Promote staff wellbeing, professional development, and retention. Quality, Compliance and Governance Act as (or work towards becoming) the Registered Manager with CQC Ensure the service consistently meets CQC Fundamental Standards. Maintain robust governance systems including audits, action plans, and quality improvement. Lead preparation for inspections and ensure timely implementation of recommendations. Ensure accurate and lawful record keeping in line with GDPR and professional standards. Care Delivery and Practice Ensure care is person centred, strengths based, and outcome focused Oversee assessments, care plans, risk assessments, and reviews. Ensure service users are supported to maximise independence and engagement in activities of daily living. Embed safeguarding, positive risk taking, and least restrictive practice Respond effectively to incidents, complaints, and concerns. Safeguarding and Risk ManagementAct as safeguarding lead, ensuring compliance with local safeguarding adult’s procedures. Manage complex risk including self-harm, exploitation, and behaviours that challenge Liaise with local authorities, NHS teams, and other professionals as required Ensure lessons learned are embedded following incidents or near misses. Business and Partnership Working Contribute to business development, contract compliance, and service sustainability Monitor budgets, staffing costs, and value for money in collaboration with directors Build effective relationships with commissioners, social workers, families, and partner agencies Represent the organisation professionally at meetings and forums Person Specification Essential Criteria Qualifications NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Adults) or equivalent Professional qualification in health or social care (or significant managerial experience) Willingness and eligibility to register with CQC Experience Significant experience managing or supervising a care or supported accommodation service. Experience working with adults with complex needs including mental health, learning disability, or dual diagnosis. Proven experience of CQC compliance, audits, and quality assurance Experience of safeguarding adults and multi-agency working. Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of CQC regulations, Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding legislation Ability to lead, motivate, and manage staff effectively Strong assessment, care planning, and risk management skills Excellent communication and report writing skills Confident decision maker with the ability to manage competing priorities IT literate with ability to maintain accurate records and reports Personal Attributes Values driven with a commitment to dignity, respect, and inclusion Resilient, adaptable, and calm under pressure Approachable, professional, and accountable Able to lead by example and role model best practice Desirable Criteria Allied Health Professional background Experience managing supported living or healthcare related services Experience of business development or service growthKnowledge of local authority commissioning and funding processes Experience of managing inspections rated Good or Outstanding The Successful Candidate for the role will have: • The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding, • The ability to keep calm under pressure, • Excellent communication skills, • The passion to work with vulnerable Adults, • Confidence to work alone and as part of a team
