Installation Technician – RF Systems Salary: £30,000–£33,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications) Location: Sutton, Surrey Commute Requirement: Maximum 45-minute morning commute Job Type: Full-time About the Role We are looking for a hands-on Installation Technician to support the deployment of UHF/VHF two-way radio systems across environments such as commercial developments, data centres, warehouses, and large-scale infrastructure projects. This role is well suited to someone with practical experience in cable installation or construction sites who is looking to develop a career in radio communication systems. You will work as part of a technical team, installing and commissioning systems based on designs provided by engineers. Key Responsibilities (Full training provided) • Install coaxial cables according to layout drawings and site plans, • Mount and secure passive components (e.g. splitters, couplers, terminations), • Perform cable terminations, VSWR testing, and continuity checks using RF test equipment (under supervision), • Assist with installation of RF repeaters, amplifiers, and power supplies, • Document installation progress through photos and site notes, • Follow method statements and risk assessments to ensure safety and quality, • Liaise with site supervisors and engineers to meet project specifications, • Assist with troubleshooting faults during installation and testing, • Maintain tools, equipment, and stock inventory Essential Skills and Experience • Confident using hand tools (drills, cable cutters, strippers, etc.), • Willingness to work in confined spaces or at height when required, • Full manual driving licence Desirable Qualifications (not essential) • CSCS/ECS card or equivalent site certification, • Certifications such as Working at Height, IPAF, PASMA, Ladder Safety, Harness Use, or Manual Handling (Level 2), • Ability to read basic cable schematics, containment layouts, and block diagrams, • Basic understanding of RF principles (training can be provided), • Knowledge of safe cable routing, containment systems, and labelling standards, • Previous experience in cabling or low-voltage system installation, • Experience working in data centres or industrial environments, • Familiarity with basic test equipment (e.g. multimeter, coax tester, handheld signal meter), • Awareness of site safety practices and working near live infrastructure What’s on Offer • Competitive salary, • On-the-job training and mentorship from experienced engineers, • Career progression opportunities into commissioning or engineering roles, • Exposure to high-profile infrastructure projects, • PPE, tools, and equipment provided, • Access to a work vehicle, • Up to 6 additional days of holiday
