Role Overview I am looking for a skilled, compassionate, and professional Level 3 qualified dog groomer to operate as an independent contractor, managing grooming appointments for our clients during my maternity leave. You will work on-site at the Dorking salon, maintaining high standards of care, customer service, and animal welfare. The role includes a generous profit-sharing arrangement and the opportunity to build relationships with a loyal client base. Responsibilities Perform professional dog grooming services (bathing, clipping, styling, nail trimming, handstripping, etc.) to the highest standard. Build rapport with clients and their pets during the transition period (September to November 2025), working alongside the owner. Manage the salon independently from December 2025 for approximately 12 months. Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming salon environment, with a professional and compassionate approach. Adhere to health and safety protocols, including handling dogs with specific behavioral or medical needs. Provide excellent customer service to ensure client satisfaction and retention. Requirements Qualifications: City & Guilds Level 3 Dog Grooming (or equivalent) essential. Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional dog grooming experience, with proficiency across various breeds and coat types. High-quality clipper-work, Handstripping & Handscissoring is essential. Equipment: The contractor is to provide their own clippers, scissors and blades. Sharpening Services must be organised independently, ensuring business can operate as usual. Everything else i.e Bath, Table, Shampoos & Spa Treatments are provided. Self-Employed Status: Must be registered as self-employed with HMRC and responsible for your own tax obligations (or willingness to obtain before starting). Insurance: Public liability insurance (or willingness to obtain before starting). Skills: Strong grooming skills, excellent customer service, and ability to handle dogs (all breeds) calmly, confidently and compassionately with a high-welfare approach. Availability: Flexible schedule, including weekends, to cover peak appointment times. Professionalism: Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining our 5* business reputation. Transition Period From September 2025, you will work alongside the owner to meet clients, learn my routine, and ensure a seamless handover. Gradually take on appointments under supervision before independently managing the salon by December 2025.
