Summary of Role \n \n This is a broad-ranging in-house legal role providing maternity cover within the UK & Ireland Legal Department. The role supports BMW Group companies, focusing on corporate law and corporate transactions, company secretarial, governance and board administration matters, corporate real estate, project-based real estate and construction matters, commercial contracts, legal operations, SRA compliance, ISO certification and environmental matters. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n Corporate Law, Company Secretarial & Governance \n\n • Provide legal and governance support to BMW Group companies in the UK and Ireland.\n, • Advise on company law, corporate governance, directors’ duties, corporate approvals and signing authorities.\n, • Manage board and company secretarial matters, including proactive administration of board meetings, minutes, resolutions, director changes and statutory filings.\n, • Support corporate transactions, pension projects, securitisation programmes and governance-related initiatives.\n, • Act as a key contact for auditors and support statutory reporting and governance disclosures.\n, • Monitor, interpret and implement developments in corporate law and corporate governance, including the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 (ECCTA), Companies House reforms, corporate transparency requirements and other regulatory developments.\n\n \n Real Estate, Construction & Environmental \n\n • Provide legal advice and strategic support in relation to the BMW Group’s UK and Ireland property portfolio and associated real estate law matters.\n, • Support property transactions, lease matters, strategic real estate projects and construction-related work.\n, • Review, draft and negotiate property and project documentation and coordinate external advisers.\n, • Advise on environmental and sustainability matters affecting the business.\n\n \n Legal Operations & Compliance \n\n • Support legal operations, legal technology and AI initiatives.\n, • Oversee SRA compliance, ISO certification and legal function governance requirements.\n, • Contribute to legal procurement and manage legal subscriptions for the team.\n\n \n Commercial Contracts \n\n • Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts across the business.\n, • Provide practical legal advice on contractual, governance and risk matters.\n\n \n Skills and experience \n \n\n • Qualified solicitor or senior in-house lawyer with substantial relevant experience.\n, • Strong corporate law, company secretarial, corporate governance, board advisory and corporate transaction experience.\n, • Strong corporate secretariat management skills overseeing many legal entities with experience of managing hybrid board meetings with multiple stakeholders joining virtually. Ensuring timely provision of board papers.\n, • Experience advising on commercial contracts, real estate and/or construction-related matters.\n, • Ability to advise senior stakeholders confidently and independently across a broad range of legal and governance matters.\n, • Experience managing a high-volume, varied workload across multiple legal disciplines.\n, • Excellent drafting, judgement, organisation and stakeholder management skills.\n, • Pragmatic and commercially focused, with the ability to identify legal risk and provide proportionate, business-oriented advice.\n, • Experience of Irish company law, legal operations, pensions, securitisations, SRA compliance, ISO, audit and/or environmental matters would be advantageous.\n\n \n At BMW Group, we are committed to offering our employees the right balance between work and personal life.
