Freelance Support Engineer (Holiday / Ad Hoc Project Support)

This is a freelance position to become part of a pool of engineers we can call upon for holiday cover or additional project support within our Media Technology Team. The role will be hybrid, based in our London office, working with award-winning brands such as Sky HISTORY and Crime+Investigation. You will support the day-to-day running of our media technology infrastructure, including broadcast systems, file-based workflows, post production environments, and workflow orchestration platforms. Key Responsibilities • Provide technical support for IT, broadcast, and media systems., • Support post production users with Adobe Creative Cloud and related plug-ins., • Troubleshoot and support remote edit and on-premise edit environments, including storage, proxies, and deliveries., • Provide support for MAM/PAM systems, • Provide day-to-day support for SDVI Rally which includes workflow monitoring, user support, troubleshooting, and vendor escalation., • Escalate issues to third-party vendors as needed., • Monitor system performance and workflows; identify and resolve issues., • Assist with configuration, upgrades, and maintenance of broadcast equipment and file-based media workflows., • Ensure all work and incidents are logged and tracked in Fresh Service, meeting SLA targets., • Work on multiple priorities simultaneously, • Communicate clearly with business users and prioritise requests effectively. We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate the following key competencies in their day to day work: • Working with People – collaborate effectively with creative, operations, engineering, and vendors., • Analysing – diagnose workflow failures, analyse technical logs, trace issues across content supply chain systems., • Planning and organising – manage priorities (support requests, workflow monitoring, vendor escalations)., • Delivering results and meeting customer expectations – ensure continuity of media workflows and support., • Resilient under tight deadlines and broadcast-critical issues. Minimum Requirements • Experience supporting broadcast, or media production systems., • Familiarity with post production workflows and user support., • Hands-on troubleshooting of software, storage, and hardware., • Experience liaising with third-party vendor support., • Ability to manage multiple requests and keep stakeholders informed., • Clear documentation and incident logging in ticketing systems (Fresh Service or equivalent)., • Experience providing user and technical support for media workflow orchestration platforms such as SDVI Rally (or equivalent in content supply chains)., • Ability to monitor and troubleshoot automated workflows, identify failed jobs or deferred tasks, and escalate to vendors where required. Desirable Requirements • Experience with SDVI Rally workflows & support., • Knowledge of BLAM and/or similar MAM/PAM systems., • Understanding of transcoding, edit storage, and proxy workflows., • Scripting or automation experience (Python, PowerShell, AWS Lambda) to streamline support tasks.
