We’re seeking skilled contract engineers to be part of a high-performing team delivering essential services across aircraft disassembly, maintenance, storage, and return to service with an immediate start. This contract will offer a minimum of 200 hours per month until Spring 2026, with the opportunity to be extended or return in September 2026. What You’ll Do As a Licensed B1 Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring aircraft maintenance is carried out to the highest standards, in compliance with regulatory and company requirements. You’ll supervise base maintenance activities and act as certifying staff on Boeing 737NG aircraft right at the heart of our operations at Teesside International Airport. Licensed Aircraft Engineers are responsible for performing maintenance on time and by the applicable requirements, regulations, and approved standards so that all maintenance is released to service in a safe and compliant manner. The Licensed Aircraft Engineer role also includes tasks not directly related to maintenance, but crucial to the overall functioning of the organization. Responsibilities • Certify and support staff and exercises privileges in accordance with the individual authorisation document., • Supervise base maintenance activities and allocate work effectively., • Ensure completion and certification of all work required by customers to high compliance standards., • Adhere strictly to approved maintenance data and company procedures., • Interacting with Quality Auditors to ensure that the quality function can perform unhindered., • Implementation of the Quality Policy and Human Factor issues., • Working in and maintaining facilities to a high standard., • Performing maintenance strictly in accordance with approved maintenance data., • Recording maintenance in a clear, unambiguous manner., • Attending all required training, including aircraft type training when the organization requires additional type coverage., • Ensure that tooling & equipment is used following the relevant instructions and organization procedures., • Maintain tooling & equipment as directed by the DAM., • When necessary, report problems and suggest improvements to the Safety and Compliance Manager., • Maintenance in respect of the organization’s MOE & procedures to remain an up-to-date and accurate document reflective of the maintenance organization., • Maintain and uphold a Just Culture in the approved maintenance organization., • Submit internal occurrence reports to the Safety and Compliance Manager when required and ensure colleagues to do the same., • Prepare relevant work packages and formally hand them to maintenance personnel as applicable., • Review completed work packages, identify errors and/or omissions, and liaise with maintenance personnel to have appropriate corrections made to ensure the system is reflective of maintenance activities performed., • Archive electronic copies of completed work packages and send original documentation to the relevant CAMO., • Actively support and promote a positive safety learning culture through the reporting of occurrences and potential hazards and by adopting continuous improvement and human factors principles with their work. Qualifications / Requirements • UK CAA Part 66 License B1, • Supervisory experience running base or line maintenance checks., • Current type ratings on Boeing 737NG., • Knowledge of Part M, Part 145, Part 66 & Part 147., • Knowledge of CAMO., • HF Qualified., • EWIS Qualified., • SFAR88 Qualified., • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally in the English language., • Ability to work IAW-approved maintenance data. This is a key leadership role, responsible for managing and developing the organisation’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Compliance Monitoring System (CMS), while deputising for the Nominated Post Holder for Safety & Compliance. The role offers a unique opportunity to influence safety culture, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across a growing aviation organisation. 🔍 Key Responsibilities • Deputise for the Nominated Post Holder (Safety & Compliance) in managing the Safety & Compliance Department, • Manage the Compliance Monitoring System, ensuring compliance with Part 145 and other applicable regulations through audits, assessments, and oversight activities, • Identify, document, and manage non-compliances, implementing effective corrective actions and driving continuous improvement initiatives, • Lead hazard identification and risk assessment activities, ensuring robust safety management processes and regulatory adherence, • Design and implement safety assurance processes, including training and competency assessment of certifying personnel, • Monitor and control amendments to organisational procedures, ensuring continued compliance with Part 145 and applicable regulatory guidance, • Assess suppliers, material providers, standard parts, components, subcontractors, and contracted organisations to ensure satisfactory product quality and regulatory compliance, • Coordinate airworthiness occurrences, initiating investigations and overseeing follow-up actions as required, • Establish and manage initial and continuation training programmes, including the retention and control of training records, • Promote, maintain, and uphold a strong Just Culture within the approved maintenance organisation ✅ Requirements & Experience Eligibility & Background • Acceptable or near acceptable to the UK CAA as a Nominated Post Holder (Safety and/or Compliance Monitoring), • One of the following professional backgrounds:, • Valid or previously held UK Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML), • Aeronautical Engineering Degree from a recognised university, • Substantial experience within an aircraft maintenance or continuing airworthiness environment Essential • Extensive knowledge of Part 145, Part CAMO, and Part 66 regulations, • UK CAA Part-145 Regulations training, • Proven experience as an internal auditor, with recognised auditing training, • Strong organisational, analytical, and leadership skills, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, • High attention to detail, integrity, and professionalism, • Ability to work autonomously while fostering collaborative team environments, • Human Factors training, • Fuel Tank Safety / CDCCL, • Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS), • Previously held Part-66 AML About Us Willis Aviation Services Limited are part of Willis Lease Finance Corporation, a pioneer and provider of global aviation services for over 45 years.
