Graduate Teaching Assistant – Guildford Teaching Assistant – Guildford Location: Guildford, Surrey Contract: Full-time or Part-time considered Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm, term-time only Start Date: As soon as possible School Type: Primary (with some SEN needs across year groups). About the Role As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a central role in supporting pupils’ learning, emotional wellbeing, and personal development. The role involves working both in the classroom and on a one-to-one or small-group basis with pupils who require additional support. Daily responsibilities include: • Supporting pupils with their learning across all curriculum areas, • Working one-to-one with children who may have additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, SEMH needs, or academic delay, • Leading or assisting with small-group interventions (phonics, reading, math’s boosters, social skills groups), • Helping to create a positive, calm and purposeful learning environment, • Supporting behaviour management using positive strategies, • Preparing resources, assisting with displays, and helping the class teacher with classroom organisation, • Supervising pupils during transitions, break, and lunchtime, • Recording observations, feeding back to teachers, and contributing to pupil progress discussions What We Are Looking For We are seeking a candidate who is: Essential qualities: • Passionate about supporting children’s development, • Patient, calm, and able to form strong, positive relationships with pupils, • A good communicator who can work effectively as part of a team, • Reliable, enthusiastic, and willing to learn new skills, • Able to follow instructions but also use initiative, • Previous experience working with children or young people, • Knowledge of SEND (particularly ASD, ADHD, SEMH, Speech & Language), • Experience with behaviour management strategies, • Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Little Wandle The Ideal Candidate You may be an aspiring: • Teaching Assistant, • Learning Support Assistant, • SEN Support Worker, • ELSA We welcome applicants with experience from schools, nurseries, youth work, care roles, or voluntary organisations.
