Job Description Acoustics and Signature Analyst Full Time, On-site. Derby, Raynesway. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Acoustics and Signature Analyst to join Rolls-Royce Submarines in Derby As an analyst in the Signature Group you will primarily be, delivering acoustic predictions using engineering analysis/CAE (eg FEA/FEM, SEA, multi-physics solvers), developing associated methods, toolsets, and supporting Validation and Verification (V&V) activities. You will be supporting in-build and future programmes. We are currently looking for talented analysts to join the Signature Group within Technology in Rolls-Royce Submarines. The Signature Group is primarily responsible for assessing the signature performance of the plant and providing recommendations for improving performance. What you will be doing: You will be conducting acoustic analysis/CAE (eg FEA/FEM, SEA, multi-physics solvers) and providing advice and guidance to the boat programmes: Strategic thinking to build on the business vision for the future of the signature capability.Liaising with customers, and various stakeholders in the signature community.Undertaking work relating to analysis/CAE, analysis methods development including V&V and uncertainty qualification.Supporting product V&V through relevant testing or commissioning programmes.Provide technical guidance in the design process.Drive continuous improvement through the business to develop capability and improvements to design. Stress / Finite Element Analyst Role Overview We are seeking a Stress / Finite Element Analyst to take ownership of structural analysis activities on gas turbine components. The successful candidate will have strong expertise in FEA, materials behaviour, and life assessment, with experience working on rotating and structural parts in aerospace applications. This role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, technical documentation, and presentation of analysis results to both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll be working with the industries largest OEM on projects and deliverables closely aligned with their long term and continued success. Key Responsibilities • Lead stress analysis of assigned components, ensuring compliance with all technical, fit, form, and functional requirements., • Perform detailed 2D and 3D FEA, including modelling of contact, friction interfaces, and elastic–plastic behaviour., • Collaborate with global engineering and support functions (life management, heat transfer, materials, design) as needed., • Interface with design engineering teams to ensure robust and optimised solutions., • Support technical reviews and deliver presentations to internal and external customers (systems technical reviews, design reviews, analysis reviews)., • Produce Design Study Summaries / Design Record Books to substantiate and document engineering activity., • Contribute to component life assessment activities (fatigue, damage tolerance, fracture mechanics)., • Provide input to aftermarket services and repairs where relevant. Required Skills & Experience • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Aerospace/Aeronautical, or related engineering discipline., • Minimum 3 years’ experience in gas turbine stress analysis., • Strong knowledge of 2D/3D stress and structural analysis of gas turbine rotating and/or static components., • Proficiency in finite element modelling tools, including:, • ANSYS Mechanical APDL / Workbench, • Meshing tools (e.g. Hypermesh, UG NX), • CAD tools (e.g. UG NX), • Understanding of advanced analysis techniques: non-linear analysis, frictional contact, elastic–plastic behaviour., • Experience in component life analysis (fatigue, fracture mechanics, damage tolerance)., • Familiarity with aftermarket services or repair engineering (advantageous).
