Purpose of the Role To support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in accessing learning, developing independence, and achieving their individual educational goals. Key Responsibilities • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN., • Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs)., • Support pupils with autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs., • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs., • Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and independence., • Monitor and record pupil progress and report observations to teachers and SENCO., • Promote positive behaviour and emotional well-being., • Support pupils during classroom activities, transitions, breaktimes, and educational visits., • Assist with personal care and medical needs where required., • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment., • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals., • Attend staff meetings, training, and pupil review meetings as required., • Maintain confidentiality and comply with safeguarding policies., • Support the school's commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Person Specification Essential • Experience working with children or young people., • Understanding of Special Educational Needs and inclusive education., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills., • Patient, empathetic, and supportive approach., • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff., • Good literacy, numeracy, and IT skills., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare., • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one. Desirable • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification., • Previous experience in a SEN school or mainstream SEN setting., • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEN interventions., • Training in Makaton, PECS, Team Teach, or equivalent SEN-related programmes., • First Aid and Safeguarding training
