SUMMARY To lead and manage the operational shift team, acting as the senior Metro Supply Chain representative on the shop floor. The Shift Supervisor ensures the smooth running of daily operations, supports continuous improvement, and maintains high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. LEADERSHIP & TEAM DEVELOPMENT • Act as the senior Metro Supply Chain staff member on the shop floor, working closely with the Operations Manager to meet business expectations., • Support and collaborate with managers and other supervisors to ensure consistent leadership across shifts., • Train, motivate, and develop staff in line with job descriptions and competency frameworks., • Monitor staff productivity and accuracy, ensuring alignment with customer requirements., • Oversee all warehouse activities including intake, put away, picking, packing, labelling, and dispatch., • Optimize utilization of assets and resources across the operation., • Ensure all staff operate within current legislation and company policies., • Produce regular reports and statistics as required., • Take ownership of stock accuracy and integrity across the site., • Lead investigations into discrepancies, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed., • Maintain a flexible working schedule to meet the dynamic needs of the business., • Provide leadership coverage across multiple shifts, including weekends and peak periods., • Ensure staff conduct themselves safely and in accordance with H&S guidelines., • Work with managers and supervisors to apply H&S best practices and rigorously follow up on investigations and corrective actions., • Ensure compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and communicate any non-conformances or changes affecting the management system., • Follow environmental policies and procedures, highlighting any risks to personnel or the environment., • Understand customer issues and help drive business improvements., • Support the Management Team in meetings and reporting to the customer., • Understand required timescales for planned activities and ensure appropriate resources are in place., • Support change initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement projects. Experience & Education • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse or logistics environment., • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities., • Knowledge of inventory systems, ISO standards, and stock control processes., • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence., • A good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent., • ILM Level 2 in Leadership and Management (or equivalent) or currently/willing to study for this., • Full clean driving license.
