We are providing next-gen cooling with unsurpassed heat removal capacity measured in W/cm2 We’re seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented experimental test engineer to join our team on a part-time basis and assist us in building and operating test platforms for evaluating cooling performance. This role is ideal for PhD students in mechanical, thermal, or chemical engineering who want to gain real-world experimental lab experience alongside their research. Location: London (On-site) Hours: Flexible part-time Start Date: September 2025 Compensation: £17.50 per hour Company: Infiniflux Sector: Thermal management / Data centre cooling / Semiconductor/Deep tech hardware Duties - Analyse business requirements and develop comprehensive test plans based on these specifications. - Execute functional, performance, and regression tests to validate software functionality and reliability. - Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure the product meets user needs. - Utilise tools such as Jira for tracking defects and managing test cases effectively. - Perform debugging of issues identified during testing phases and work closely with development teams to resolve them. - Test web services and APIs to ensure seamless integration and functionality across platforms. - Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), providing input on quality assurance best practices. - Document test results and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders, highlighting any issues or areas for improvement. Ideal Candidate Profile - PhD student in Mechanical / Chemical / Thermal / Aerospace Engineering (or related fields) - Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and two-phase flow - Familiarity with vapor-compression systems, coldplate thermal design, or similar systems - Experience with refrigerant safety protocols and F-gas handling (certified is a plus) - Proficient in Python, MATLAB, or Excel for data analysis and plotting - Hands-on experience building test rigs or working with lab-scale experiments - Excellent attention to detail and safety mindset - Comfortable working independently and as part of a small technical team What You’ll Gain - Real-world, paid R&D experience on cutting-edge thermal hardware - Access to experimental platforms and tools relevant to your PhD or future career - Opportunity to contribute to deep tech innovation with commercial potential - Flexible hours to suit academic schedules - Mentorship from experienced engineers and direct impact in a growing startup
