Location: Southern Home Counties / Northern Home CountiesSalary: £60,000£70,000 per annumPackage: Competitive salary + car allowance + fuel card for business and personal use + up to 25% bonusJob Type: Permanent, Full TimeSector: Retrofit, Refurbishment, Social Housing, Planned Works, Property ServicesQuantity Surveyor Retrofit / RefurbishmentAre you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a commercially focused role with a national property services and retrofit contractor delivering long-term, quality-led works across social housing and public sector frameworks?This is a rare opportunity to join a national property services and retrofit business delivering the same high standard of work across all regions, with long-term quality contracts across social housing, education, retail and hospitality properties.We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor Retrofit / Refurbishment to support commercial delivery across the Southern and Northern Home Counties, working on retrofit, planned works, refurbishment and property improvement programmes across occupied homes, social housing and public sector contracts.This role would suit a commercially strong QS with experience in refurbishment, retrofit, planned maintenance, social housing, property services, construction or public sector framework delivery.The Role As Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the commercial performance of live projects from tender stage through to final account.You will work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, clients and internal stakeholders to ensure costs are controlled, value is protected, procurement is managed effectively and commercial reporting is accurate.Projects may include retrofit, decarbonisation, planned maintenance, external wall insulation, fabric upgrades, roofing, windows, doors, insulation, kitchens, bathrooms, voids, disrepair and wider refurbishment works.Key Responsibilities Prepare cost estimates, tenders and contract documentationManage project costs, budgets and procurement activityMonitor commercial performance from tender through to final accountPrepare valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accountsSupport cost forecasting, cash collection and margin protectionReview subcontractor quotations, appointments and paymentsManage contract administration and commercial documentationWork closely with operational teams to keep projects commercially controlledIdentify risks, cost pressures and opportunities for value recoveryProduce accurate commercial reports for internal and client reviewSupport retrofit, refurbishment and planned works delivery across the Home CountiesEnsure works are delivered in line with contract requirements, commercial procedures and client expectationsThe Candidate We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who understands the pace, pressure and practical nature of refurbishment, retrofit and planned works delivery.You will need strong commercial awareness, good attention to detail and the ability to manage costs across live projects while working closely with operational teams.You will need:Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, refurbishment, retrofit, planned works, property services or social housingStrong understanding of cost control, valuations, variations and final accountsExperience managing subcontractor procurement and paymentsKnowledge of JCT and/or NEC contractsStrong commercial awareness and ability to protect project valueConfidence working with operational teams, clients and subcontractorsStrong organisational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects or work packages at the same timeGood IT and commercial reporting skillsFull UK driving licenceThis role would be particularly suitable for Quantity Surveyors with experience in:Retrofit projectsDecarbonisation worksSocial housing refurbishmentPlanned maintenanceProperty servicesExternal wall insulation / EWIFabric upgradesRoofing, windows, doors and insulation projectsKitchens and bathroomsVoids and disrepair worksPublic sector frameworksLocal authority contractsHousing association contractsMain contractor or specialist subcontractor environmentsOccupied property worksWhy Apply?
