Job DescriptionJob Title: Mechanical Assembly TechnicianJob Description An innovative and rapidly growing solar panel manufacturing start-up is seeking a versatile Mechanical Assembly Technician to help build and scale production operations from the ground up. This hands-on role focuses on mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly, sub-assembly, and system integration for advanced solar manufacturing equipment. You will work closely with engineering and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, evolving environment, contributing to prototyping, new product introduction, and continuous improvement as the organization scales. Responsibilities • Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complete systems for solar panel manufacturing equipment and related products., • Work from blueprints, schematics, Bills of Materials, and verbal instructions to complete builds accurately and efficiently., • Perform integration of mechanical systems with electrical components as required for equipment and product builds., • Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring instruments to perform high-quality assembly work., • Inspect parts, sub-assemblies, and completed assemblies for quality, accuracy, and compliance with specifications., • Troubleshoot assembly issues and collaborate with engineering to resolve design, fit, or process challenges., • Support prototyping and new product introduction (NPI) activities, including building early-stage designs and test configurations., • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on processes, tooling, and assembly methods., • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workstation while adhering to all safety and quality standards., • Assist with documentation, including process updates and development of work instructions as processes evolve., • Support cross-functional needs such as testing, rework, packaging, or material handling as required in a start-up environment., • Participate in process development and equipment building efforts to support scaling of manufacturing operations.Essential Skills, • 2–5+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, sub-assembly, or manufacturing technician roles., • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with assembly tools and equipment., • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and Bills of Materials., • Experience performing quality checks, visual inspections, and basic troubleshooting on mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies., • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and precision measuring instruments in a production or assembly environment., • Demonstrated experience with mechanical assembly, heavy mechanical assembly, sub-assemblies, and machine building., • Ability to work from schematics and blueprints to build equipment and machines accurately., • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving production environment with shifting priorities and changing requirements., • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work., • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with engineering, production, and cross-functional teams., • Capability to troubleshoot mechanical and basic electro-mechanical issues during assembly.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience as a sub-assembly, integration, or engineering technician supporting complex systems or prototypes., • Background in renewable energy, solar, semiconductor, robotics, or advanced manufacturing environments., • Experience working in a start-up, R&D, or new product development environment where processes are not fully defined., • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical systems independently with minimal supervision., • Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, or automated systems used in manufacturing equipment., • Experience supporting process development, process improvements, and documentation of build instructions., • Experience in equipment building, machine building, and process development for production tools., • Associate’s degree or technical certification in mechanical engineering technology, mechatronics, or a related field (preferred but not required).Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a manufacturing facility in Texas, in Building 1, Suite 100. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, with flexibility required between an 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule and a 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. schedule, along with the ability to work occasional additional hours when needed. You will work in a factory environment that is not yet climate controlled, so conditions may vary with the weather. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $30.00/hr.
