Job DescriptionSalary: Base Salary: $70,000-80,000 Position Summary Pine Grove LLC (Thomas Construction) is seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Senior Accountant Construction Accounting to support the day-to-day accounting operations of the business and help maintain a disciplined financial close process. This role will be responsible for core accounting functions including reconciliations, job cost support, month-end close activities, WIP reporting support, and balance sheet account maintenance across Thomas Construction and related entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong construction accounting background, be comfortable working in a fast-paced operating environment, and be capable of supporting accounting processes tied to job cost, progress billing, retainage, payroll liabilities, subcontractor commitments, and monthly close. This individual must be tech savvy, able to work in person, and should be comfortable operating across multiple systems and accounting workflows. Experience with Foundation is a plus, and familiarity with union payroll and related liabilities is also preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: • Support day-to-day accounting operations across Thomas Construction and related entities., • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and ensure accounts are maintained accurately and timely., • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, including progress billing support, retainage tracking, and resolution of billing discrepancies., • Maintain and reconcile intercompany accounts, including due to / due from balances and related-party receivables and payables., • Assist with payroll-related accounting, including payroll liabilities, union fringes, and tax accruals, and ensure balances are properly recorded and cleared., • Maintain strong job cost hygiene by ensuring costs are coded accurately by job and cost code., • Reconcile subcontractor commitments, change order logs, and job cost detail to the general ledger., • Execute key month-end close activities, including preparation of accruals, prepaid amortization, depreciation entries, and supporting schedules., • Reconcile key balance sheet accounts, including accounts receivable, retainage, under/over billings, accounts payable, payroll liabilities, and debt., • Support preparation of the monthly WIP package, including job schedules, cost to date, billings to date, estimate at completion, under/over billings, and related tie-out workpapers., • Assist in developing repeatable and accurate monthly close and reporting processes., • Maintain organized accounting records, schedules, and supporting documentation. Required Skills and Competencies • Construction accounting background required., • Strong understanding of job cost accounting, progress billings, retainage, WIP schedules, and monthly close processes., • Strong technology skills and comfort working across accounting systems, spreadsheets, and digital workflows., • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills., • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Ability to work onsite in Pittsburgh, PA. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience in a Senior Accountant, Construction Accountant, or similar accounting role within a construction or contracting business., • Experience with Foundation accounting software., • Understanding of union payroll, union fringes, and related accounting considerations., • Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Compensation and Benefits • Base Salary Range: $70,000 $80,000 annually, • Annual Bonus: Target 10% performance-based bonus, • Benefits: • Medical insurance, • Dental insurance, • 401(k) plan, • Paid Time Off (PTO) Work Environment This role is primarily performed onsite in Pittsburgh, PA, with occasional travel to Grove City, PA during the onboarding and transition period. The position may require interaction with project teams, operational personnel, and external service providers in support of day-to-day accounting and reporting activities.
