Job Description SUMMARY The Senior Business Banker is responsible for building and growing a commercial banking portfolio from the ground up in their assigned market. This role focuses on prospecting new business clients, originating deposits and loans, and serving as the primary relationship manager for small to mid-sized businesses. The ideal candidate is a seasoned commercial banker with a proven ability to generate new relationships independently and manage the full lending and relationship lifecycle. Strong financial acumen, knowledge of business banking and treasury products, disciplined pipeline management, and comfort operating without an inherited portfolio are essential for success. This position is critical to expanding the bank’s commercial presence and regional market share. By driving sustainable loan and deposit growth and establishing trusted client relationships, the Senior Business Banker directly contributes to revenue growth, brand strength, and long-term value. ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Proactively build a commercial banking portfolio from the ground up by aggressively sourcing new deposit relationships through cold calling, strategic networking, community presence, and direct outreach to local businesses., • Serve as a trusted advisor to business clients by identifying complex or evolving needs and coordinating banking solutions aligned with client goals., • Own the end-to-end lending lifecycle for business loans including lines of credit, term loans, equipment financing, and commercial real estate transactions., • Drive deposit growth by positioning operating accounts, cash management, ACH, merchant services, payroll, and other fee-based solutions to become the client’s primary financial institution., • Partner closely with internal teams to deliver a seamless client experience from origination through account activation and ongoing servicing., • Monitor and manage portfolio performance by reviewing financial statements, assessing credit risk, ensuring policy and regulatory compliance, and proactively addressing emerging issues., • Conduct regular client reviews to identify expansion opportunities, anticipate changing business needs, and deepen wallet share through proactive advice and solution refinement., • Maintain accurate pipeline, portfolio, and activity tracking within CRM systems to forecast production, manage priorities, and support data-driven decision-making., • Negotiate loan structures, pricing, and terms within delegated authority while effectively presenting opportunities to credit partners and committees as needed., • Exercise sound judgment and accountability in ensuring all client relationships and transactions align with bank policy, regulatory requirements, and reputational risk standards., • Represent the Bank within the community and relevant business networks to enhance market presence, expand referral channels, and support deposit growth initiatives., • Assume responsibility for special projects and tasks as assigned. EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, a related field, or a commensurate combination of education and experience required., • A minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible experience within banking, lending, sales, and managing customer relations required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Exceptional business development, networking, and relationship-building skills., • Strong understanding of sales principles, with the ability to identify sales opportunities, provide meaningful product recommendations, and support an overall culture of sales excellence., • Demonstrated knowledge of deposit and lending operations., • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements with an understanding of how these rules and regulations apply to sales functions within a financial institution., • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to remain organized and produce accurate, efficient work in a fast-paced environment., • Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to analyze potential project outcomes with the adaptability to redirect attention as needed to meet targets and deadlines., • Confident decision-making abilities and the skill to use sound judgment about the timing of choices; particularly the ability to make informed, responsible decisions with limited information or under considerable amounts of stress., • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers at all levels., • Successful project management and strategic planning experience with a substantial record of managing projects, setting goals, developing timelines, and monitoring progress., • A positive and proactive approach to work, demonstrating enthusiasm, adaptability, and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful or adverse conditions., • Proficient computer literacy, including comfort with Microsoft systems and Office Suite., • Intermediate typing skills to meet the needs of this position., • Current driver’s license and reliable transportation with appropriate insurance coverage; additionally, the ability to drive occasionally in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities., • The ability to work with minimal or no supervision. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS • Master’s degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred.
